This is a great hard rock/matal album and I have all of Stryper's albums. Stryper iks one or many hard rock/metal band ss in my collection and is one of my favorites.

One of the old discs I still enjoy.

"Honestly" deserved to be on VH1's list of all-time worst videos - there was some wimpy slop on this album, but not nearly as much as on the next album.

The title cut is just one of the greatest heavy metal tunes ever. The guitar tone is huge and untainted by a lot of effects. Michael sings with abandon!

I've been at a Stryper concert where "Calling On You" generated more jumping up and down and singing along than any of the other songs. :D

I gave it a 10. I rededicated my life at a Stryper concert, 1985, Soldiers Under Command tour, Lloyd Noble Arena. These guys were so misunderstood, and yet what we have in our churches today in terms of worship makes them seem tame by comparison. I think that the fact that Jimmy Swaggart was so violently against them speaks well of the genuineness of their hearts.

Me too. Right up there with it was the Sing Along Song and Holding On. Holding On was one of my personal favorites of theirs. It had sort of a sixties pop feel, compressed through some 80s metal crunch.

Fav songs Rockin the World, Calling on You, and To Hell With the Devil.
Stryper's hit album, definitely worth trying for fans of 80's heavy metal

I know I'm going to get some fire from this. I respect Stryper tremendously for what they did for Christian rock. But their sound was much less inventive, and now sounds much more dated then Petra or White Heart. I think the Christian community should give more respect to these two bands than they do. White Heart especially doesn't get the credit they deserve. If you like hair metal, than this CD is the way to go (Or White Cross' "Triumphant Return," but if you want really good music go with Petra or White Heart. That's my opinion. Sorry.

Little off topic, I never liked White Heart too much. A buddy of mine let me borrow a couple of CDs of theirs, and I didn't like it very much. Petra is a much better band, IMO. And I think the reason is, is that Petra has stood the test of time through, what, 3 decades? Plus, White Heart is pretty much strictly 80's style rock, whereas Petra with each decade molded their style to fit. Meaning, I enjoy the Greg Volz era better for music, and John Schlitt era for vocals. Plus, Bob Hartman is one of the best, if not the best, rock guitarists I've heard!

Anyways, that's enough for my off topic rantness.

Well, you're wrong.

the reason why Stryper may sound outdated is because glam metal is outdated.

Anyway, To Hell With The Devil is not my favorite Stryper album (that would be Soldiers Under Command), but The Way could be possibly my favorite Stryper song ever.

And Honestly was a lame video, but I remember it being consistently in the top 5 videos on MTV for the longest time. And then Free came out and it was in the top 5 for a long time too.

My youth pastor loaned me this CD, and I really liked it, so I got it. I'm in high school now, but I really love 80's hair metal. If anyone knows of anymore Christian hair metal bands I would like to know. Email me at hawky_13@yahoo.com. Anyway, how could you dis on this band, if you listen to Christian rock now you owe Stryper a huge thank you cause they broke the ground for the scene.
