AMAZING ALBUM

Scogin really makes a name for himself on this CD. As of yet, I cannot find better lyrics than on BTMKTC. i give it a 10.

norma jean is excellent. this cd is awsome especially memphis. almost time for their new album. i get to see them next month, can't wait. i've been debating whether norma jean or the chariot is better. i can't decide. the chariot show i went to was awsome. what made it even better was having showbread followed by bradley hathaway go on before them. so i don't know if the norma jean show has a very fair chance.

I LOVE THIS CD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was finally able to convince my friend that said there's no such thing as Christian metal that there is such thing as Christian metal with this cd.

i love shotgun message, memphis will be laid to waste, and face:face.

also, the hm article on them is awesome. theyre some crazy kids.

awesome album, just picked up their new album and it's freaking sweet too, though quite a bit different. I probably like this one better, but I haven't decided yet. Norma Jean is all sorts of awesome though.

Wow.... Norma Jean is my FAVORITE band EVER. I love the song "It was as if a dead man stood upon the air..." Which is about hanging yourself haha but to me, it seems like... when life gets so hard and you feel like you want to die just think about what you're doing. And I love "The Shotgun Message" and "The Human Face, Divine..." If you like really hard passionate music then get this album it's worth every cent. Get it now...

now.

MEMPHIS WILL BE LAID TO WASTE!!

This is a great CD. :D

I can't believe I never followed up on this CD.

I think it is the greatest hardcore album ever.

this cd rocks. i give it a 9.99 only because the first 3 songs almost start off the same. but that's not a big deal. i love the first 4 songs the best, but the whole cd is really good. i saw them live and it was the best hardcore show i've ever been to. they played with beloved, kyds vs. columbus, and scary kids scaring kids. mewithoutYou was supposed to play but the van broke down so they couldn't make it. they're a really good band too, everyone should check them out. yeah, i agree about them being crazy. the hm article is completely accurate. if they come to u'r town, go see them. that's all there is to it. well, ttyl folks. keep on rockin
:yep:

OMG awesome cd. norma jean let 'em have it. They're show in homewood was so awesome, that pit was crazy, i never danced so much. and lyrics like "mediocrity is a killer...christ is not a fashion...." only make it better.

Posted on 06-25-2005 by Jetix

This is an amazing cd. Memphis Will be laid to waste is one of the greatest harcore songs ever written. Definately worth owning

Where did you see that?

This cd is so awesome, I love the lyrics. I also love how progressively written the music is written, yeah, it's just such an awesome cd. It's great how the songs really go together, like the whole thing is live or something, it's great. Definately a 10.

It's so hard to understand their lyrics, I never could tell.

This album is flat out amazing, one of the best hardcore albums ever made. Excellent songwriting and excellent production.

So I finally got this.

Dang. It laid waste to my ears.

In a good way. It's brutalfied.

so good or bad?

EDIT*
never mind

Posted on 09-17-2007 by Mr. claw
Yeah...definetly good. These guys of capable of pounding your ears with craziness for 2 and a half minutes, and then slowing it down and having echoing clean vocals that give the song an almost haunting quality. (I used to hate cell phones)

That song is so awesome.

Did anyone notice that the breakdown of "You put me in the grave" on A Tempermental Widower is almost identical to the break down of "She simply will not die" on Face: Face?

Posted on 09-17-2007 by Mr. claw
Hmm. I guess they do sound similar.

I actually like A Tempermental Widower's more.

I guess that's bound to happen now and then....

Yeah, I just thought it was cool because it was like old school Norma Jean shining through.

I would have to agree I like Luti-Kriss better, they had more blunt lyrics and I like the whispers and almost a little "rap" sound to it(Body of God). They changed a lot from Luti-Kriss to Norma jean alright. I was hxcmp3.com and cam across this song and it was a redone version of Face:Face, but it was country style, it was really rad, funny.

Who is the current vocalist of Norma Jean now? I've heard everybody say that Josh was so much better, never heard the other(s) though.

Posted on 10-20-2004 by Unregisted
i think the new singer is the lead singer from strongarm. i heard he is amazing. alright if you didnt know here now you do. alright later

I finally got this album this summer.
And forgive me everyone, I know that nearly every single NJ fan thinks that Memphis is the greatest song ever but after listening to it I have to say that it is the most overrated NJ song of all time and of the generally overrated songs of any genre. Don't get me wrong, its a good song, but it is definitely not any bit better than any other song on that album. I was actually shocked after listening to it, I had heard so many amazing things about the song and it was a complete disappointment.

I'll give a full review yet, its a really awesome album, not as good as O God, but pretty close.
freaking awesome cd. almost as good as Luti-Kriss.
They are luti-kriss... I don't legally own the CD yet, but I have most of the MP3's... Really freaking good CD. I love all of the songs... I missed their concert here though :(

Posted on 12-01-2003 by sixzirens
i realize they are luti-kriss, i was just saying i personally prefer the luti-kriss albums to the norma jean album. i love it when i talk to some scenster kid from california who claims he loves norma jean, but when i ask if he listens to luti-kriss, he starts swearing up and down that he doesnt liosten to rap or hip-hop.....hilarious.

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this CD yet. I absolutely love this album. It kicks all sorts of butt. It has clever and insightful writing, even if you can rarely understand the lyrics. This album is so energetic, with some amazing drum beats and off-kilter guitars. It gets a 10, though I have yet to hear any of their Luti-Kriss albums.

i love norma jean!!!!!!!

You know, honestly, this cd isn't that great..

I'm a huge Scogin fan, but his vocals are horribly bland on this album. I mean, he's way better in The Chariot.

That being said, some of NJ's best songs are on this album such as the first three tracks, "I Used to Hate Cellphones..", and "The Shotgun Message".

In short, this a great cd, but it does not represent NJ at their best musically, or Scogin at his best vocally.
