Let's be honest- even though thr CD is titled 'The Best Of The Newsboys', this isn't their best. Their older music, which is what makes up Arise My Love, lacks the pop-rock edge that their two latest CDs, Sheltering Tree and More Life have. It is carried by some good songs- "Can't Keep A Good Man Down" (a great song), "Jesus To The World" (even though it's kind of slow), "Got Me Going", and "More God". "All Around The World" is a very powerful song, but it lacks the speed to make it great. Ditto for "Arise My Love". And "Like Minded Like Hearted", featuring Out Of Eden, just plain sucks. It is a travesty to even be on a Newsong album, let alone their so-called greatest hits.My rating: 7/10
My verdict: Despite its shortcomings, Arise My Love does have some genuine gems. If you like their more upbeat songs, try their newer albums, 'Sheltering Tree' and 'More Life'. Both of those albums have some truly incredible songs on them. If you like this CD's slower songs, try their older albums.
