"This cd is just plain wack, except for "Set It Off'.The rest of the cd is just mainstream/pop hardcore and wannabe reggae,"

Well....You Think it sounds like mainstream/pop hardcore and reggae...my question..what's the point? So what if it does....you only got half a thought here bro...if you would've added.."..and I don't really care for that sound personally" that finishes the thoguht.
Soemthin to think on...stuff is mainstream/pop because that's what is popular with the most people....

"And what's up with "Youth of the Nation",it seems they don't offer the solutions of the problems they talk about."

They point the finger and bring to our attention the problems we are facing....its our job to change it....they merely broguht it the forefront of our midns throguh a song...the responsibility to give it a happy endign or change it is on us, not them.

You don't like it that the song ends seemingly bleak...well, that's how lfie is..that's the reality of our world...and unless we step up and do our parts and more...then there will eb no happy peachy endings....music isn't always to make us all rosy and ahppy...sometimes its a challenge to us..I hope I pss this one.

"Anyways,my lil' bro got it for christmas that's how I heard it...
Thank God I got The Benjamin Gate's "untitled"..."

Yes that is your prefered style....if you have the choice between two styles and you choose one over the other, we call this phenomenon "prefered style." A Preference is merely liking somethign better than another thing...doesn't have to be a favorite, just a preference.

"And what's with "Anything Right"btw... "

Well...how often have you opened up your soul and been so fully honest and thoguht how often you s crew thigns up? How often you fail? How many tiems you KNOW a door ahs been opened up and you didn't go through? How often God has a plan and you hold Him back?

If we are fully honest with ourselves, we screw up TONS...our lives are pathetic attempts to serve Him..but we gotta keep at it and try to rise above those mistakes...

This goes abck to the thign where they put thigns in the limelight...adn tis our place to fix what is wrong....

We so foten want to be all lvoey-dovey..nice happy endings, just like the sappy love story they havein every movie where the guy gets the girla dn we're all happy in the end...that ain't life.

I LOVE this CD..I gave it an 8 though..because there were like 4 tracks that seemed such a waste....you couldn't understand the lyrics even if yur sittin there readin the liner notes......and soem jsut seemed poitless..but OVERALL..its very very sweet.

P.O.D. are an awesome ministry..keep it comin...

My favs:
Alive, Youth Of A NAtion, BOOM, Set It Off, Materpiece Conspiracy, Satelite....

Rock On Sonny & Crew, "Stay true tot he old school..."
well, judging by the lyrics it's gotta be about a christian, don't ya think?
I've never seen why. Can you show it to me? Or anybody else for that matter, I want to know which lyrics make people think it's about a Christian, I'm open-minded about it.

WOW Heavy C. That was rockin what you said.
And now i'll help out fifsuperpod...
ON Portrait, the words are...

You're not who they say you are
They made you the enemy
(CHRIST-jah flesh; CHRIST-light within; CHRIST-Begining and the end)
Taken something so beautiful
Painted a new picture that makes me sick
(CHRIST-Witness; CHRIST-Living one; CHRIST-First and last)
Feed our minds confusion
Sweeten the taste of pollution
(CHRIST-Word life; CHRIST-Ressurect; CHRIST-Everlasting jah)
CHORUS:
Some people call you father
Maybe you could set me free
These people hate each other
But you've always been there for me

I refuse to be like you
Without my life, caving in
(CHRIST-Jah flesh; CHRIST-Light Within; CHRIST-Begining and the end)
I surrender, giving up all that is me
Yielding to you
(CHRIST-Witness; CHRIST-Living one; CHRIST-First and the last)
Shape me in my brokeness
Empower me forever
(CHRIST-Word life; CHRIST-Ressurect; CHRIST-Everlasting jah)
CHORUS
I know you will complete this work started in me
I need you more than ever now that I know who you are
I know you will complete this work started in me
I need you more than ever now that I've come so far

I sure don't know how you can't see what's so "Christian" in that song. If ya need more, I'll be here. :)

this cd is great, and it definitely broadened the audience that pod have...but dont buy this album and judge pod by it alone. the first album i bought by them was southtown, and i thought it was great when i bought it. now i look at it as a lower grade almost. i still like it, but the old albums are much better musically and lyrically, in my opinion.

Thank you very much..I just try to see more in music than just the lyrics...
A song is like the Cliff Notes for a sermon....and its up to us to sit there and study the Cliff Notes and fill in the missing spots with logic and using other notes...and our minds.

There is so much more we can get from music than just the lyrics...if we will open our midns and let our souls be free as tobyMac puts it....

Also..I've learned to quit expecting music jsut to be all lovey dovey and all cheerfull...sometiems music shows us a burden we have..to change...

Thansk for the lyrics to Portrait...

But the comment mentioning about a Christian...that was in reference to the song Anything Right...not Portrait.....myabe I crossed soemthing..but thats what I got outta it...

This is a great CD, i am not a fan of every single song on it, but i like the majority of them. POD is a great band who is sharing the love of the Christ with the secular world, which i think is amazing. Awesome band, awesome CD.

Ya, i know....this was a long time ago....any way.....before marcos was ejected, they were slipping.....he has gone completely secular....have you heard about his new band.....the accident experiment......wow.....very secular...but truby has helped bring them back....but they wanted to anyway....that's why they kicked marcos out....less agressive style....more positivity...but i'm not too concerned that they'll go softer....truby came from living sacrifice....and in case you don't know....(heaven forbid)....living sacrifice is/was death metal...

I hope the guys are as geniuine as i hear. i think the Gospel message could be a little clearer in theit lyrics tho..

whats up with them saying Jah? I know it means God, but are they afraid to actuallty say Jesus in cd lyrics because they might get stoned or something? half of the people that listen dont have a clue what Jah means...

that eek-a-mouse dude is .. ugh.. man...

'fundamental elements" was a much better cd..

but then again.. just another 'run o' the mill' nu metal band.. which style i find obsessively repetitive and boring.

verse chorus verse.

its all opinionated, of course.
I can understand why you don't like it. They are very good at being subtle with their lyrics, but they have a solid Christian message behind it :yep: By the way, they used Jesus and other Christian language like that in their first two CDs, Brown and Snuff The Punk. I understand that they are using the word Jah as a shortened version of Jehovah, so it has nothing to do with Rastafarianism.

By the way, this is my favorite CD by POD. My favorite songs are "Boom", "Set It Off", "The Messenjah", and "Youth of the Nation." Great rap/rock CD. :D

I like this CD. It's just on the brink of being to heavy for me; I can't stand any of that screaming stuff that sounds like a pitbull growling. So I don't really like Without Jah' Nothin, or that last one, I forget the name of it now. I like Satalite, Boom, Set it Off, Alive, and the Messinjah.

Oh, all the bands that I listen to could do that. I mean, how far do you want? Until somebody who makes an album where "Jesus" is the ONLY word in it, they could do more. And if they're too blunt, they'll be labeled as a "Christian band", and they don't want that, because they want to minister to nonChristians.

The "other thread" is not the main reason of my "hate" for this album. The fact that the lyrics are mediocre (if that much) and the music isn't that great either. It's fun to listen to sometimes, but other than that, it sucks.

As for the idol worship........Read the "other thread".

there is no debating it is idol worship!

Rastafarian DOES NOT EQUAL Christain

Rastafarain singing "withour Jah youa re nothing" MEANS HE IS SPEAKING TO HIS gOD.

It is Idol worship plain and simple. You are the ones who do not understand. I am sick of this arguing. You guys can't even back up your assertions at least not with anything valid.

this is a fantastic album with both hard-hitting jams, and more mellow grooves. lyrically, it is very honest and creative. it has several stand out tracks (set it off, boom, the messenjah) and a few more forgettable ones (ridiculous, without Jah nothin'). i would recommend it to fans of rage who are tired of the "f" word. definitly one of the best cds of 2001. debuted on 9-11 actually.

Posted on 06-11-2002 by fifsuperpod37
zride17: debuted on 9-11 actually.

Me: I thought I would remember that day as the day when Satellite would come out, I was looking forward to it, wow. This is P.O.D.'s best album yet, although it isn't as hard core as the fundament elements, it is still great. And it has plenty of awesome songs besides the ones on the radio, for instance, set it off, messenjah, portrait, anything right, and masterpiece conspiracy. Go get this CD. Listen to it a few times. You'll like it.

Posted on 06-11-2002 by NathanGrimm
I absolutely love this CD. The only reason I gave it an eight rating is in the end of the album there are a few songs that are a little monotonous. However, this is POD's greatest album yet! Although me saying that doesn't mean much because I didn't like their earlier albums. But my favorite tracks are BOOM, Youth of a Nation, Alive, Set it Off, and Satellite.

Great CD!! If you like the Limp Biscuit/Linkin Park genre - this is it without all the language. I had it in my car the other day playing and a family friend freaked 'cause he thought I only listened to christian and I explained what POD stood for and well , you get the point - helped me to show another that being Christian can have great music too!!

This is one of the best CD's i have owned. It great music on it. Though the three songs, Celestial, Guitarras de Amor and Without Jah nothing are kind of stupid. I guess they just use them as fillers or something. But the rest of the CD is great. Songs like Alive, Masterpiece Conspiracy, The Messenjah and Set it off, are all awesome. I strongly suggest buying this CD if you are into rock music, if you havent already.

I bought this CD after hearing "Alive" on MTV. I honestly thought it was the only song on the CD worth listening to. I gave it to one of the kids in the youth group, who loves it. I'm glad that there's plenty of new Christian music out there that's appealing to young people, but it just seems so bland to me. There's not much to it, in my opinion. I gave it a 2
This cd is just plain wack, except for "Set It Off'.The rest of the cd is just mainstream/pop hardcore and wannabe reggae,
I guess you don't like "mainstream/pop hardcore and wannabe reggae". I apparently enjoy that style, I think it's either your mindset or your taste that keeps you from liking it.
And what's up with "Youth of the Nation",it seems they don't offer the solutions of the problems they talk about
I guess they didn't have enough verses. Seriously though, they do hint at the sources of our problems and suggest that maybe there is more to life than we understand, or that we don't understand God's plan.
Anyways,my lil' bro got it for christmas that's how I heard it...
How many times have you heard it?
Thank God I got The Benjamin Gate's "untitled"...
If that is your preferred style, I would rather get Satellite, but I haven't heard much of Benjamin Gate.
And what's with "Anything Right"btw...
I don't know if it's about God or a Christian who can't see the plank in their own eye.

well, that's true, but i think they coulda done better lyrically

How many times have you heard it?

a lot,and the only song i enjoyed was set it off.

ben gate's sound is so far from being "my preferred style",but i think it's way better than Satellite.

well, judging by the lyrics it's gotta be about a christian, don't ya think?
Even better than their new one(payable on death)....
Such is the opinion of many many "Warriors", although Payable On Death probably has more talent to it.

The new guitarist(Truby) is awesome, but he tried to hard to replace Marcos. I mean on Eternal, that was the type of thing that Marcos did. But Truby tried to hard to make one of those instumental/fillers. I respect the opinion of anyone who thinks the new cd is better. However, POD has changed dramaticly from their other albums. I do hope that POD goes more hardcore on their next cd like they were on their previous one's.

WHAT?! Truby in no way whatsoever tried to replace Marcos, at all. It's more of Truby's thing, actually, to do an instrumental like Eternal. Seriously, Jason is a much more talented guitarist than Curiel.

i beg to differ with jon here....i have been listening to Living Sacrifice,Jason Truby's old band for those who dont know, for years; correct me if i am wrong, but i dont recall any instrumentals truby did with them. personally i think marcos and truby are both fantastic players, but i dont think marcos always played to his own potential. listen to some of the solos on the live album; they are much better than anything marcos played after they rose from the underground.
on another subject, i think truby's playing went downhill on Payable on Death. he was a much more technical player when in Living Sacrifice. now it's all straightforward, radio-friendly stuff. almost sad.
one love, Warriors

It's not really all that "heavy".....it's not bad in heaviness, but it's not super heavy....I think i gave it a 9 because i listen to more than just heavy stuff

truby came from living sacrifice....and in case you don't know....(heaven forbid)....living sacrifice is/was death metal...
No, they're not.
Then what are they?....

Posted on 12-10-2004 by beau99
They started out as a thrash metal band, and then when Truby left, became metalcore.

All of which are based off Death

It is better than Payable on . HTe messege is stronger. The music is better. Sattilite is the best track And then Set it off.

Very sweet CD, I personally think it's a lot better than Southtown. They have a lot broader range of sound, and a lot of the songs are very strong lyrically. My favorites are Alive (of course), Boom & Masterpiece Conspiracy.
