I would venture to say that this is the best album ever. I have yet to find a collection of songs that so well fit together and are so powerful either alone or together. Also, they used a TON of strings - violins, violas, cellos - and also some other cool orchestral instruments that gave it a unique feel. I think a lot of us can agree that Worlds Apart is an awesome song, and I would buy the cd ten more times just for that song. Nothing comes close, and that's a lot for me to say considering that music IS my life:) . I would recommend this album to ANYONE. I mean, HELLO, was there even ONE vote under 5? and how many voted 10? This album is AWESOME!!

hmm, I bought this the other day expecting amazing things and, although it is a good album, it is not (imo) the most amazingly brilliant album ever! there are some good songs but a lot of the singing is a bit iffy and the 25 min hidden track is just annoying!
so yeah 7/10 is all I can give it I'm afraid.

God Bless, Rich

Couldn't have said it better myself...in fact I don't even think that is the best way to describe the cd. There are no words for the greatness of the album.

i would say this is one of, if not THE, best albums EVER!

IMO there is no one best album, but this is the best Jars album.

GMartin2R: and not to mention lots of fun to play with. cool tuning to mess around with

sure is! the only ones i know are Love Song For A Savior and Flood are tuned EABEBE and capo three. i think. any way, could you tell me if any other songs are in weird tunings? i just do Worlds Apart in normal tuning and not capoed and it sounds right to me.

Posted on 06-11-2002 by GMartin2R
i'm pretty sure that "HE" is in their EABEBE tuning. actually i think most of the songs you can get to work in the JOC tuning.

I'll agree with ya there:D

Never have been able to understand all the hype about this band, but I've gotta admit Liquid is a cool song. It was definitely worth the two bucks I spent for the cd.

on the CD and in the official guitar tabs book for this cd it's all in regular EADGBe tuning every song, you just need to play alternate chords often, I can play Flood, World's Apart, Love Song, Like A Child, and Liquid, this is definitely an awesome cd; world's apart is probably one of my favorite songs of all time, Love song, flood and liquid all come close on this cd i love this cd Dan's voice makes me feel safe

Rather randomly picked this up yesterday ("Jars of Clay? Hey, I think I heard one of their songs once!" :p) and this album rocks. :D I especially love "Worlds Apart" and "Love Song For A Saviour." :)

Great Cd! It's worth buying for "Worlds Apart" alone! Awesome song, I really like "Love Song for a Savior" too. Great acoustic guitar playing, nice artistry.

This is a wonderful album and my personal Jars favorite. The acoustic guitars along with all of the other string instruments really give this record an artistic feel that is hard to find in the acoustic rock genre. There are a couple of songs I don't care for, but otherwise "Jars.." is a very solid album.

This album is phenomenal. This cd has to be one of the best, if not the best I've heard.

Posted on 07-25-2005 by fallinguprawks
i gave it a 6 because, although it is exellent writing, it's not really my style. Jars of Clay practically invented the alternative genre and at times sounds almost country, but i am more into industrial rock, punk rock, and modern rock.

Ten. The single most important album in all of modern christian music.

I'd never listened to Jars of Clay, then a friend told me to get their first CD cause it was really good. So I got it and its the one of the Best CD's in my Collection. Powerful, Worshipful. A must have for any christian.

hmmm...yeah i'd agree iwth you, cuz i can play them that way, but i say them play some of those songs in concert and for Love Song for a Savior and Flood, they do use the alternate tuning and capo. now, you can play them and make them sound similar on just normal tuning, but it is easier and actually sounds a bit better in their tuning.

I looked up the Jars website a while ago.

Seems to be well presented, anyway.

Wow. That's all I can think of to say right now. I don't know what they did on this CD, but they did it all right. Worlds Apart has to be one of the best songs ever. He, Love Song For A Savior, Liquid, Like A Child, Art In Me ect. are amazing songs. Flood is good too, but its overplayedness makes it not so good

Posted on 10-05-2002 by OneWithTheMud
It's one of their best but a lot of the songs on it sound the same.

Posted on 10-09-2002 by John Clark
This album is on of the few that I can put in my CD player and listen to all the way through. I can't say that with many other CDs.:D 10 all the way!

Posted on 10-21-2005 by Blazer77
Not much left to say...just that I agree it's their best and a cornerstone in Christian music...modern or otherwise.

The love affair between me and Jars of Clay is a long and tedious thing, starting before I even got saved when my mother was trying to turn me on to Christian music. I used to exclusively listen to Papa Roach, Incubus, and Linkin Park with the occasional interpersing of Slipknot and Nine Inch Nails. My mother gave me dc Talk: Intermission and Jars of Clay to try and lure me into getting a sermon into my ears. I almost laughed out loud and realized with a start how much my mother really didn't know me. Now fast forward two years to today. Since that time, I have started to "grow an ear" for acoustic music such as the Jars' first CD, and hence this CD has become my favorite contemplation time music. A big, fat TEN. Great detail, awesome work, and true music. Poetic lyrics, artistic and talented vocals and instrumentals, and an atmosphere unparalleled by any other "softer" CD I have bought.

The first and one of the best ever, second to Much Afraid, my personal favorite. :)
I fell in love with Faith Like a Child and Love Song For a Savior, both beautiful songs. Jars of Clay rocks!
