Big Tent Revival - Choose Life (1999)

This album is far from BTR's best, though it makes an attempt to break through to mainstream CCM.

It is that effort the make it in CCM that lead to this album just not being the same as BTR's previous efforts such as [i]Amplifier[/i] and [i]Open all Night[/i]. Everything feels mellower that usual for the guys, and the genre of the music changes from track to track in an attempt to gain the eye (and ear) of CCM radio.

The songwriting is still top-notch, and Steve Wiggins voice is strong as always. But with a mellower sound and different styles, combined with the loss of bass player Rick Heil, it just doesn't sound like anything else BTR has done in the past.

Good effort, but not as good as it could have been.

I haven't bought the CD, but I've heard this song (Choose Life) on the radio, and I have to say that I LOVE what it says. It spoke to me, because we have to live life, the way our Father has given it to us. So Big Tent Revival, I give you a 10 from a scale of 1-5. hehe. God Bless you all!

The songwriting here is great, without question and individually the songs are great, but as a whole, this album just didn't have the continuity of some of their other albums. The more mellow approach was a bit disappointing to me because I liked that unique blend of blues rock and I really think it is missing in this release. It's not a bad CD, and not a waste of money, but it isn't BTR at their best.

The songwritign for this album was very thoghutful and pwoerful...and the muscial variety is kinda refreshing...there are 12 different songs with 12 different styles.......one thign about BTR< you can enver say all their musci soudns the same! ;)
