I finally got this a couple days ago....hee.

Well...I like it. Don't, don't, don't get it if you want something really heavy. This band is quite capable of throwing down when they decide to, but there's a lot of singing, and lot of that singing is done in a cool chorus style chant, like ABR and MCMB do once every other song. Some of the songs start out really mellow, but just about all of them have a reasonbly hard breakdown.

The problem with it is that while the style they've opted for on this cd is cool, and a different take on this style of music from what I'm used to, they never deviate from that style on the whole cd. So on its own, any one song may be great, but listening to it straight through together is kind of boring. Also, I occasionally wish they'd just thrown the singing out the window and let a song be brutal. But whatever. As is, I'd say the cd is very...happy/uplifting sounding. Right now my nerves are too frayed from school for that to bother me.

The vocalist has really improved since Pilots and Paper Planes. He goes low a lot, and it really surprised me how good he was. He does a great job, though the higher pitched stuff occasionally sounds like a dog barking and not so much a like words.. Clean vox are pretty good too- also much better than last time.

Can't give this a number yet. I thought it was pretty good. You can really judge whether or not you want this by listening to their myspace- the whole cd sounds like those songs.

Also-- if you're one of the people who just bought the Gwen Stacy cd, don't get this until you've had the GS cd long enough for the awesomeness to wear off.

9 - Among the best of the year.
8 - One of the top CDs around, but could have been improved in a few places.
7 - Not a bad CD, but could have been better in a number of places.
6 - Pretty good for it's genre, but overall it's only acceptable.
5 - Decent CD, but only if you're a big fan of this genre.
4 - If you love this band, you'll like this CD. Otherwise, probably not.
3 - If you're a fan of this genre, the CD is barely acceptable.
2 - If you're a big fan of this band, this CD is tolerable.
1 - Even if you like this band, you won't like this CD.

We'll go with an 8.

Don't get this if you want something really heavy. I'd say it's for fans of Life in your Way (totally diff. styles, though) The Devil Wears Prada, and I guess Gwen Stacy.

I love it.
I loved it so much that I overlistened to it.
Now I'm sick of it.
But I still love it.
The only reason it's not worthy of a ten is that it has very much of the same thing. It has nice singing, then gang vocals, then a breakdown, then a calm part. A lot of that combo. But still amazing.
