:stare: Best Buy didn't have it yet.

Spoke too soon on that one, nevermind.

Ya it kinda sucks. I think I may just have to buy this on iTunes. I don't think my local Christian store will have it.

It's a decent cd. I havent listened much so my opinion will probably change, and ill like it more. But until then...the vocals are ridiculously QUIET on the cd. And southern metal has gotten so overrun recently. So it lacks creativity points. MSOD does it best, and these guys probably 2nd best. I gave it a 5, but really i should have given it an 8.

I wouldn't call this southern, man.

It's got some southern...but...I wouldn't call it southern.

And you may want to wait a while before rating a cd...sometimes they get better, sometimes they get worst. But I think you need to have one a while before you can accurately rate it. :)

Ehhh it's southern....

Posted on 01-27-2008 by Thrill Seeker
But on that note i do like it more now anyway.

Posted on 01-30-2008 by Mr. claw
Okay I was totally wrong.

Spoke in ignorance, shame on me. It's southern.

Posted on 01-30-2008 by Thrill Seeker
Haha it's alright, i appreciate that you can own up to it though. Thats really cool.

The guys in the band actually call it "All American Blue Collar Metal." None of them are from the South.

Posted on 01-30-2008 by Thrill Seeker
Yeah but we are referring to the genre, not the location. I know they are from the northeast.

This is a temporary review, i'm in a hurry.

This album isn't good. They definetly lack creativity, riffs are typical, boring, definetly nothing to brag about.
I love the vocalists scream, and I think it's awesome how they aren't doing the sing/scream with the clean vocal melodies.

Breakdowns lack, I mean come on guys, decide, are you hardcore or southern?

But definetly not written in stone, i'll give it more listens and vote.
But so far, complete dissapointment. First impression is that they aren't good enough to be a Solid State band.

If someone were to ask me for a southern metal band suggestion, I would recomend He Is Legend or MATSOD, even though they are rather melodic.
If someone wanted southern metal with very little cleans, I might mention these guys, but warn them that it is only mediocre.

We'll see if my mind changes.

And I now am starting to agree more and more that the CD isnt any good. I have been listening to Bringing Down Broadway instead. Not at all southern. But similar bands i think.

I really like it. Generic as crap? You bet. Don't care.

And did anyone notice the awesome bass?? It's awesome on this cd. The vocalist is one of a kaind, to be sure, though some may find his voice grating and offensive. I'm not ready to stamp it in stone yet, but I'd say it's a decent cd. Maybe a 7. Occasionally it soars above the norm, and is totally awesome, but only in a few songs.

Alright...the flaws present in this cd have made themselves glaringly and painstakingly obvious over the last few weeks. And it just kills me, because I see the potential here. There are parts that are really, really cool, but all too often they are plagued by a hiedously generic section in the very same song that kills the flow. And sometimes, when they decide to be "southern", it ruins what was otherwise an excellent metal song by simply not fitting in.

One of my favorite songs, "Avoid Me Like the Plague", features and excellent example of the latter, at the part where he says "And it's hard to find your way home...". It's not...bad sounding, but it doesn't fit with what was otherwise a totally brutal and awesome song.

I believe the only song where this curious form of hybrid metal is perfectly executed is "The Dust of a Town".

That said, I do retrect my recommendation. This cd is good fun, and it flirts with perfection. Hopefully next time they'll drop the one-liners. Har-har-har.

"Can I get a hallelujah?" lol that parts funny (it may be the ep though).

These guys are better than half of the solid state bands, but solid state has picked up some great bands in the past year or 2 (Advent, BTA, August Burn Red).

This is good southern, I think the genre isn't nearly developed enough. .. (same as deathcore). Although it would be definitely 2nd to Maylene at the very most.

I was foolish enough to buy this cd. Solid State needs to stop signing crappy artists.

Like Destroy the Runner and Oh Sleeper? I agree but Once Nothing is gold.

Solid State has been doing amazing.

Aside from Destroy the Runner and Advent and Maybe The Famine, they are one of the best labels out there.

And BTA and August Burns Red have been signed to Solid state since 2004

I absolutely know that. . . That was just one of the best moments in the history of solid state. The best batch of bands they could get, at the same time!
Like Destroy the Runner and Oh Sleeper? I agree but Once Nothing is gold.
On the contrary, I find both Destroy the Runner and Oh Sleeper far better than Once Nothing.

Now, the vocalist for this band is quite awesome. But the guitar is crap. It's all really boring and all the songs run together to easily. All the songs are also far too long because this contributes even more to their running together.

I personally find it hard to listen to most metal bands who go around 4 minutes with a song. They get really dull a lot faster. Also, the southern sounding parts completely ruin this album.

I'll give it a six.

Freaking sick CD. If you are a fan of pretty much any metal you'll love it. It's pretty much Maylene And the Sons of Disaster mixed with The Devil Wears Prada. I love Gunfire Is The Sound of Freedom. One of my favorite songs.
