-ChurchPunk;3095291']Hey DemonHuntress, welcome to CGR. =)

Well, my deluxe edition arrived today.. I'm loving the demon horn. XD

I can't wait to be asked what it is.. "Oh that? It's a demon horn... Worn for it's power in repelling satanic spirits."
Thanks for the welcome, even though my response to you is quite delayed.

The demon horn is awesome; I got that deluxe edition too, and it makes me wicked happy.
Welcome to CGR DemonHuntress, another DH is always welcome ;) (looking at my avatar will explain). .
Yeah, I was super excited to see your avatar. Rawk on!
I just have to say that Carry Me Down is like the best song ever. This song is awesome.
I don't own the cd though, but I'm planning on buying it as soon as possible. :D
Overall I would give this cd a 9.
Yeah, yeah, yeah! I totally agree! So amazing! IT'S ALL AMAZING!!!!

this CD is awesome, they changed so much from their previous CD releases, I don't think that they could've done better......maybe well I guess there's always room for improvement, but not so much with these guys. my favorite songs were: "Sixteen", "Fading away", and "Carry me down", and maybe "Wrath of God"

Great CD. Thorns and Lead Us Home are awesome. But pretty much every song is good.

Posted on 03-13-2008 by normajean777
You know the choruses just get so boring and make me turn away from listening. . . But I am still so happy about the horn after all this time. . .

5/10. Coming from a huge Demon Hunter fan, I think it's pretty average. Follow The Wolves is the only great song IMO. Believe me, this album is what got me into Demon Hunter, and at first I drooled over it. Now that I've had a chance to thoroughly listen to the rest of their albums, it screams watered down. It's not terrible, it's just that their three previous albums are near perfection IMO, and this is far from perfection.

I always hear people rave about this album, but it just doesn't do it for me. I always listen to it again hoping something will jump out, and I always enjoy listening to it, but it just doesn't stand up to their older albums, which I honestly think are near perfection. Summer Of Darkness is one of my all time favorite albums that I own, and my library is anything but small.

from what Ive heard so far, "Fading Away" and "Sixteen" are up at the top. this CD has gone down in guitar parts, and they have a completely different feel in this CD compared to "The Triptych", some good ways and some bad. Ryan's "grunting" voice was better in "The Triptych", but his normal singing voice has improved, evident in "Fading Away". 8 for me, "Follow the Wolves" is a pretty good song, but Ive only heard the 30 sec. preview, could be a single for this album.

Posted on 11-06-2007 by conceived in fire
7 for me, since I gave it a 3.5 out of 5 in my full review. (which you can see via the link in my sig)

"Sixteen" is hands down the best song imo, and I love that they had Bruce make an appearance.

I give it a 6. I like the faster pace of the album. It's good for Demon Hunter fans, but not great or outstanding.

Posted on 11-07-2007 by akaukal
Still cheesy. 6.

Posted on 11-08-2007 by demonhuntress
"Carry Me Down" pretty much knocked my face off the first time I heard it. What an incredible song. This album is incredible--reminds me of their self-titled album in spots, but still great. Two thumbs up.

When it comes to this genre, KSE and All That Remains are way more talented.

well......this was different from the other cds.this had thrash/death/melodic metal.i gave it a nine because it was a different approach from other bands.i had tried becoming the archetype, august burns red and as i lay dying and i was not impressed with the results, though demon hunter is different from other bands this was a enjoyable cd from begining from end.though i had a let down hearing that this was going to be death metal.the title track had my blood going and the songs went into sing by the 4th song it was still good to hear demon hunter in another style this will be beneficial to them in the future.the 6th was awesome and i am addicted to it like the 11th and 12th with had gothic taste, mellow parts, great break-downs and solos.this cd is very moody which is good for different tastes.the best metal cd this year would have to be demon hunter, next is as i lay dying even though they are disorganized and crazy.if demon hunter mixes the triptych style with storm the gates of hell style with greater riffs with lead throughout the song like A.I.L.D and greater leads this band will be better than living sacrifice. KEEP IT UP DEMON HUNTER!!!!!!!!!

Very good Cd. It has a different feel from the Triptych but that is not all bad. It is harder than some of their previous albums but also just as melodic. Get it.

My older brother has all the DH albums, this is his favorite. So far, i'm going to have to give this album a good listen soon.

Bingxactly called Adam a genius in a sarcastic manner. A sarcastic manner. I know.

And then he voted after hearing half the cd. So I called him a genius. In a sarcastic manner.

Did I have a right to? No. Not at all. And I apologize. But I was being sarcastic. But some people seem to take sarcasm about as good as a PMS-ing badger. Geez.

Posted on 11-29-2007 by Bingxactly!
well i'm guessing people (Rchurchpunk, who basically called you a donkey) didn't really see the sarcasm.

I'm sorry, one out of your many posts wasn't negative. Amazing. =O I shouldn't have gotten as mad as I did, but I'm getting kind of tired of your constant complaining about the new CD. If you don't like it, fine, but you don't need to constantly complain. =P Again, I apologize. Maybe we should all nuke our nasty posts to just clean the thread up ourselves.. :D

They weren't exactly cheap...They were just....violently irrelevant. :D

Well...I like Fading Away a lot. And the title track is....fun. Does anyone know if Solid State released an E-crad for the cd? If I heard the whole thing again, I could really decide whether or not I liked it enough to get it.

I gave it an 8 but as you can see, its currently my flavor of the month. Top songs are Carry Me Down, Sixteen, Fading Away and Grand Finale which is on the special editions in case you didn't know. Just out of curiosity, did anyone actually buy the regular edition?

Maybe 2 or 3 ;).

I purchased the Deluxe edition from christianbook.com, but it was on backorder and has been for 3 weeks :stare:, they havent e-mailed me yet telling me its even left the facility. I havent heard the bonus tracks yet though.

Posted on 12-01-2007 by Mr. claw
Well, now I have the whole thing, as a result of the generosity and subsequent pirating of a friend who brought it to my house yesterday. :D

I think, from a critical standpoint, the band does exactly what they want to. I think they pulled this off great, and it's a great cd fr Demon Hunter fans.

I myself still haven't really listened to it enough to know what I think. I really enjoy some parts...but...oh, it's complicated. I like the screaming parts. And I like the clean vocals even more than the last cd. But when you mix them, the "Happiness" of the cleans often seem to detract from the brutality of the screaming....A cardinal sin for my taste, but not at all for a melodic metal band.

 Watch me end up giving this an 8 (not sure yet) and eating my words.

Imo, DH is one of the top three metal bands to include lots of singing (the other two being KSE and All That Remains)
The Triptych was better, but only by a little - mainly due to its more technical guitar parts.

After listening to STGOH (the CD) many times, Ethan and Don made some pretty darn good guitar parts, but I do agree with you in the fact that "The Triptych" had more technical/better guitar parts.

KSE does what they do pretty darn good. Dang good guitarist. But, haha, I still don't like them that much, because of the "excessive" singing. I've never listened to All that remains.

Solid album. 9/10. Triptych was the best.
You need to. They've got some pretty freaking awesome solos.
Not to mention one of the best vocalists in the genre. Their last release was basically perfect.

Posted on 12-02-2007 by normajean777
I turned this on in my cousins vehicle, and a solo started. "Who is this" he said. I'm like "DH". And hes like "It can't be, a solo?". "It must be the twilight zone". lol.

Anyway I've had it for a little more than a week now. I think its pretty good. About a 7. Some of the songs are starting to bore me now, but its still pretty good. I like "Follow the Wolves". Thats a great song, very melodic.

I love the demon horn BTW. I get asked about it alot. What do you tell people about it? I've been saying like its a horn from a demon I killed, being a demon hunter and all. And then people are like o you killing demons with your horn and all. And I'm thinking . . . Killing with the horn?

Posted on 12-25-2007 by KaiserZr
Okay here we go, just thought I would write a review on this cd. So let's get this thing going.

The first song I heard was Fading Away, which was the first single that Demon Hunter kept teasing us with by splitting into pieces on pure volume. When I heard the whole thing I got excited about this cd. That song was different from pretty much anything I heard by Demon Hunter. First with the Keyboard/Synth sounds and just the whole arrangement of the song. So eventually the cd came out and I got me a copy of it, and to say it simply it is my favorite Demon Hunter Cd. It contains my new favorite song by Demon Hunter (Follow the Wolves). It is evident that DH tried some new things in this cd. Plus you got your customary 1 or 2 songs that are pretty much nothing, but clean vocals (not a bad thing at all since Ryan's clean vocals are really good).

My only gripe with the cd is half the song seemed to follow the new arrangement exactly. Distorted Vocals on the verse then Clean Vocals on the Chorus and Bridge, with maybe a little sprinkle of harsh vocals. It isn't anything that makes this cd horrible, but it got old.

Positives: The use of Synths and piano, the clean vocals (huge improvement), lyrics, and rhythm

negatives: the use of the same arrangement on half the songs, they didn't sound the same musically, but it could have been a little bit more diverse.

favorite songs: Sixteen, Fading Away, Thorns, Follow the Wolves, No Reason to Exist

Final score: 8/10 great cd, a very few amount of things I would have changed, but still in my opinion their best cd.
