In my humblest opinion, this is the best metal album of the year.

Posted on 01-22-2008 by conceived in fire
^ There is much better.

Well, I got this from the library and listened to it again. The singing still doesn't quite work for me, and it's "sellout", but the music is better. There's still better metalcore.

Like?... I'd love to listen to it.

The Physics of Fire by Becoming the Archetype. I really enjoyed An Ocean Between Us though. Especially the vocals.

Heard it. It's good, but Terminate Damnation is 10x as good,

Yeah. The reason I think people like Terminate Damnation better, is because it's more raw.

The Physics of Fire was less raw, but no less technical & they changed up a few things.

I really liked the creepy vocals. But then again that's just me.

I agree. The clean vocals on The Physics of Fire are outstanding and that's rare in metal these. It's so much less emo. But the growls and the lead work was annoying. Anyway, any other talk about the Physics of Fire I'll talk about in their review page.

I think AOBU is their best album, notice how SAS came out and every other band sounded like that. The whole palm mute riff open note A string (tuned to G) anthem thing. This album is more creative by far, i like it alot. I gave it a 9.

And The Physics of Fire clean vox are soo amazing!

This was easily their best cd. I started to get tired of As I Lay Dying with their SAS cd. I only really liked one song on that cd, which was Through Struggle. This cd is very different from any of their other cds. It was produced, the guitar solos are good. The whole cd was just better. I gave it a 8 since I haven't given any cd a 10 yet, and since I gave Becoming the Archetype's "Terminate Damnation" a 9 and I think it is better than An "Ocean Between Us" I decided to give it a 8 which is still a good score.

I love this CD, great variety, awesome vocals (harsh and clean) awesome drums, awesome guitars, great bass, fantastic lyrics. All in all a very very good realease. Good mix of fast/thrashy with slower songs, couple of excellent solos. The Standout tracks for me were Forsaken, Seperation/Nothing Left, I Never Wanted and Wrath Upon Ourselves.

I finally picked this up and took a listen. It is really excellent. Shadows Are Security was absolutely horrid being one of the most generic metalcore albums I've heard, but this one took it heavier with way better guitar work and imrpoved screaming and clean vocals. 9 from me.

Tim's screaming has barely changed since AFWC (to my ears). He has always had one of the most powerful screams I've heard.

A 10 from me. Absolutely incredible production.

Yep. Way better than SAS. Much more creative and diverse.

Hmm.. From the few songs I've heard, it sounds pretty good.. I'll have to see about getting the actual CD soon. =)

its worth it, incredible AILD release.
I still love SAS just as much to be honest, but this is more advanced musically I think. I surpirsed myself when all the clean vocals didnt bother me, I love them.
I just really love this album, This Is Who We Are is practically an anthem.
10

I love the Cd because its really fast paced and entergetic. the intros are great

i really dont like the bassists vocals though, josh gilbert. I mean theyre decent but I dont like them as much as the previous singing they had

and some of their parts sounds exreemly Destroy The Runner-ish (a solid state band that basicly rips AILD off). so that was kindof disapointing in a way. Ex. "The SOund of Truth" song title is probably inspired by the DTR song "The Sound of Reason" and is actually the most DTRish track on the cd.

but yeah....Cd still owns cookies

Tim sings on this one too, on songs like Forsaken and This Is Who We Are, I'm pretty sure anyway.

If you know my taste in metal you should know I hate saying this, but most of the singing on this was annoying for me (save "Nothing Left").
Never thought I'd be complaining about singing, but I am.
Other than that, good music.

I thought the cleans on the title track were amazing...and most of them I thought were much more ranged than the last cd's cleans...

And, just for the record, the last bassist wasn't the guys who sang on SAS. It was just a friend they had come in and do the clean vocals for them. Yeah. Read that in a blog somewhere....

wait what the dude who sang on this recoreds name was josh somethin and clint sang on sas.....

No, Clint was their old bass guy but the singing on SAS was done by someone else. I don't know his name or feel like looking it up right now.

Posted on 11-09-2007 by The#1FanJon
are you sure cuz i was watching their dvd for sas and clint was singing but i could be wrong...

Posted on 11-09-2007 by conceived in fire
I'm thinking that you're referring to a live performance. Maybe not. If I had the insert I would look it up.
It's here that I'd ask Mr. Claw if he could point out the blog he referred to.

Posted on 11-10-2007 by The#1FanJon
i just looked through the booklet and didnt see anything it did say that Jason Moody from No Innocent Victim did guest vocals on illusions but i am pretty sure that clint did the clean vocals on that record......

Posted on 11-10-2007 by Mr. claw
The blog was on myspace, but after you get to 5 blogs, it starts deleting them...so it's gone.

But it said it. Yep. If it didn't say it I wouldn't bother.

Posted on 11-10-2007 by The#1FanJon
ohh ok man i was sure that clint did the singing but hey nobody is perfect thanks.....and ya learn something new ever day......

Posted on 11-13-2007 by monkeysmile
I either voted a 9 or 10, I can't remember....anyway, great album.

Posted on 11-13-2007 by Mr. claw
I love the solos....

Posted on 11-25-2007 by holyhardcore
great cd...10 for sure everyone should own it

I thought their new singer is much better than the old one...it could just be the ways they use him I don't know but over all it's just 5 times better...it's interesting as you listen to the whole cd you hear elements of many different sounding metalcore bands

I've only heard Nothing Left... and I like it.
