I have been re-visitng this album lately. I love Dreamer, and Burning Bridges is completely epic, but Pressure the Hinges is still my favorite I think.

I like Stephen's vocals better on this album I think. They're deeper.

Posted on 02-10-2009 by akaukal
Yeah, in fact, this whole album just seems more bassy and deeper. There's not really much bass to Dreamer. The whole mastering process seemed to be more high end oriented.

The new guy Steven Keech is awesome. Some may argue that they sound like any other hardcore act out there, but I think they are awesome. This cd gets a 10 from me. "Pressure the Hinges" has some freakin' awesome breakdowns. The choruses sound pretty much the same( as each other, and like the ones from When Everything Falls).

Btw, Steven has a pretty good singing voice too, as proved on "Stitches".

Great cd. I love it, however I still think their first album Burning Bridges is the best. The new guy is awesome though.

Ah I see. I pre-ordered mine from Zambooie. Guess I didn't get the special edition.

i'm picking it up on thursday, and i'm not looking forward to the new singer, the old guy was one of my all time fav vocalists.

Posted on 03-27-2007 by Mr. claw
So are you guys all telling me that I should go get this cd this weekend?

Posted on 03-27-2007 by Disciple Freak

NO!!!! I like Stephen better than Jimmy. Jimmy's scream was nasty sounding. Granted they do sing a lot more but its still AWESOME! They have a nice mix of screaming and singing. I like Stephen on tour screaming the older songs more. I would like to have seen PTH be more like WEF but its still awesome. I give it an 8.

Posted on 03-27-2007 by Adam K
They sang on every song on When Everything Falls (except on "Bleed Alone").

It depends on if you like Jimmy's scream over most other hardcore acts. Steven's scream is a isn't a low-low scream, but it gets there.

Posted on 03-29-2007 by Mr. claw
I got it 2 days ago. I like Stephen's scream more. I couldn't understand a dang thing Jimmy said. This cd is pretty good. It didn't blow my socks off. But the breakdowns did. Haste the day are officially breakdown professionals. I like pretty much all of the breakdowns. Especially the ones in "Pressure the hinges" and "Needles". Meesa gonna have to say.....8.

Posted on 03-29-2007 by Adam K
Agreed, the breakdowns are awesome.

Not when you learn how to play them. They are so awesome and complex.

While I can't relate to a guitarist's perspective on this one, I must say...their drummer is a SURGEON. That guy has some mad skillz. But sometimes I question his comparitively excessive use of the ride and double time tempo. The ride used in conjuntion with metal and/or hardore to keep tempo just bothers me for some reason. For accents, it's cool. Far-less' drummer uses the ride to spice things up all the time in songs, but he never uses it for tempo in a hard song. But that's just my thing. It just...grinds at my soul. Not really.

Burning Bridges was pretty decent but When Everything Falls was sooooooooooooo garbage. I havent heard their new album as of yet but hopefully it goes back to their roots.
Not when you learn how to play them. They are so awesome and complex.
Do you consider a breakdown to like strumming open between notes or strumming open for many seconds? I usually can't stand the ones that last for many seconds. For me in hardcore i guess it gets old after a while which is one of the reasons i don't like long breakdowns.

No.

I'm really digging the breakdown on "The Oracle", like 1:15 seconds into the song. It freakin' kicks a**.

EDIT: Well at least with my bass boost on.

hah. They in no way ruined HtD.. =P I take it you're the one that voted 1? :p

Yes, there's quite a bit of singing, but it's an awesome CD.. I've listened to it tons the past 5 days. (^_^)

Those are the only songs I've heard so far, but I will probably agree. I much prefer the growling to screechy screaming.

Posted on 04-01-2007 by Mr. claw
Me too, man.

Nobody can replace Jimmy. His voice is the sound of Haste The Day. Stephen is good but he doesn't have the epic quality of Jimmy.

Posted on 04-10-2007 by akaukal
I always found Jimmy way too high pitched and annoying. This album is simply amazing. I love every song.

I agree that Jimmy was more unique than most hardcore acts, but the scream was a little annoying.

That's actually what I like better with the new singer. Just listen to Burning Bridges, Jimmy was one of the most repetitive, boring vocalists I've ever heard. It was the same thing every song, if he had a good vocal range, he sure didn't show it. I know the vocals weren't the only thing to blame for Burning Bridge's repetitive sound, but Jimmy showed absolutely no variety.

9/10. Easily Haste The Day's best album. Very few songs disappoint. The blend of clean vocals with screaming is fine tuned to perfection. I think songs like Stitches and The Minor Prophets showcase just how those two vocal varieties should be used together. This is one of my, if not my favorite metalcore album.

my take... awesome CD! I got it at Sonshine right before HTD went on stage. I do like Jimmy Ryan's vocals better (they seemed more unique), but Stephen Keech is still awesome. HTD is my favorite metalcore band with either vocalist. Best songs are "The Oracle", "Servant Ties", and "Chorus of Angels" (check out my tab)

This is my first Haste The Day cd so I don't know anything about the other guy but this cd is awesome! I wasn't sure if I would like it cause I don't like alot of screaming but this cd gets a 10!

Posted on 09-25-2007 by earlessdog
I miss Jimmy, you can't go replace him. He was Haste The Day to me, thats what I think of, the vocals, when I think of their signature sound.

Posted on 10-16-2007 by normajean777
Ya I'm still kicking myself in the butt for spending money on this. . .

Of course I support every solid state band for the heck of it, but its garbage.

Posted on 10-16-2007 by Mr. claw
Jimmy didn't even sound like he was screaming.
Jimmy didn't even sound like he was screaming.
It sounded like he was had water in his throat as he screamed. I loved it, I still havn't go this album, I don't think i will unless i here some songs off it that are awesome.
