MONTHLY DEVOTIONAL Ben Kraker, a sixteen year old in his Junior year of high school, knows that God has called Him to bring revival to his generation. In his devotionals, Ben writes to all Christians but also makes references specifically aimed to today's teens. If you would like to learn more about Ben and his ministry, visit his website at www.BenKraker.com --- Psalm 73:21-26 Then I realized how bitter I had become, how pained I had been by all I had seen. I was so foolish and ignorant, I must have seemed like a senseless animal to you. Yet I still belong to you, you are hiding me in your right hand. You will keep on guiding me with your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny. Whom have I in heaven but you? I desire you more than anything on earth. My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; He is mine forever. Sometimes life can throw some awful things in our path. We see friends who we witness to totally ignore what we say and live in total ignorance to God. Our relatives fall sick with cancers and other ailments. Our parents end their marriage. I could go on and on, but I am sure you see the point - life can be very rough. There are even periods in our life when we don't think God will ever rescue us from our state of anguish. Maybe you are going through a tough situation and can't seem to find your way out. I know how that goes and so do many other Christians. You are NOT alone if you are struggling. Don't let anyone try to tell you that Christians don't get down in the dumps at times... because we do! Even Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, went through a time like this. Matthew 26 speaks of Jesus' soul being "crushed with grief to the point of death." Don't be discouraged as you wander through the deserts and valleys of life. Call out to God and let Him use this time of struggling to build your dependence on Him. When you can't seem to leave your low state of life, take some time to do some serious soul-searching. You may realize, just like Asaph (the author of the Psalm used in this month's devotional), that your state of anguish is partly resulting from your bitterness towards life. If this is true, take comfort that God still loves you are you are in the palm of His hand. He is guiding you with his counsel, leading you to a glorious destiny. Are you following Him? Or are you living in in a state of bitterness towards life? Whatever your situation may be, take confidence that even though your health may fail and your spirit may grow weak, God remains your strength and He is yours forever! That is what I call encouragement! For more uplifting Scripture that will be an encouragement to you in times of struggle, look up the following passages of Scripture found in Psalms and mark them for future reference. Psalm 91:9-16 Psalm 121:3 Psalm 146:7-10 Psalm 62 In the palm of a mighty God, Ben Kraker ------------------------------------------------ Have a great month, and feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions or problems with the site.
