What
Are Little Chords Made Of?
(By
Tyson)
Fingers and frets and blood and sweat. That's what little Chords Are made of. We have a chord dictionary available. But what good is a bunch of Chords if you can read them. In this lesson I'll go over some basics. First of all I'll teach you E minor (Em). Below you'll see a chord diagram of it.
You see, the diagram is like an illustration of a guitar neck with
the head pointing straight up toward the sky. Like this:
Your guitar probably doesn't look like this, (mine does) it's a cool
person guitar but just close your eyes and imagine your stick full of
strings there. Now, I made the diagrams strings red, (if your
guitar doesn't have six strings you should get some more, they greatly
increase your overall sound quality.)
Now the frets, (those metal things on you gig fiddles neck have a name!)
are in red.
The places you put your fingers is illustrated by dot's (once again
they are red)
Dot's above the diagram stand for the string you can strum.
Now then; below is the chord F which you cover the 2 high strings with
your index finger for and then fret the other dot's. See if you
can do it. By the way the X's mean you can't hit that string.
:)
