Rockin' On The Blues Scale
(By Tyson)
This lesson is just a fun approach to the Blues scale. Even if you ain't got the blues it's nice to know several styles of music because the more you know the better guitarist you will be. (That sounded like something Yoda would say.)
Here's the Blues scale in the key of A:

Now in this lesson we are going to have some fun with it. We'll put it into the key of E so we can use the open strings to play faster. So follow my tab and play a blues type of rhythm 'cause your gonna learn some riffs! Here we go...
e-3b-0--------------------------
B------3-0----------------------
G----------2-3-0----------------
riff 1
D----------------2-0------------
A---------------------2-1-0-----
E----------------------------3-0
e------------------------------------------------
B------------------------------------------------
G------------------------------------------------
riff 2
D-2-2-2------------2-2-2-------------2-----------
A-2-2-2--2-1-0-----2-2-2-------0-1-2-2--2-1-0----
E-0-0-0--------3-0-0-0-0--0-3--------0--------3-0
e-3b-0-3-6-7-10-12-15-17-15-17-15-17-12~~~

riff 3
D-----------------------------------------
A-----------------------------------------
E-----------------------------------------

riff 4
D-2-
A-2-
E-0-
One suggested use of these riffs is:
riff 1, riff 2, riff 1, riff 2, riff 3, riff 1, riff 2, riff 4
(Click Here For An MP3 example)
But I also want you to mess around with these riffs and make up some your own stuff. The skies the limit.
