Alternate
Tunings
(By
Tyson)
Hello all you happy people! I'm
about to show you some cool tunings for those of you looking for a new
sound. For those of you who don't know, you can tune your guitar
flat or sharp to have a new tone. Check it out.
EADGBE standard tuning
This is the tuning you're
used to... yeah.
DADGBE
drop-D tuning
tune 6th string down one
whole step
With this tuning you can
do power chords with 1 finger... the top 3 strings, when strummed are
D5 and so on. This is probably the second most used tuning out
there. You'll hear it from bands like P.O.D., Creed and stuff
like that.
DADGBD
double-drop-D
tune 6th string down one
whole step - tune 1st string down one whole step
Well, this is used in acoustic
music, mainly in classical guitar pieces.
DADGAD
"Dad-Gad"
tune 6th string
down one whole step - tune 2nd string down one whole step -
tune 1st string down one whole step
Try this out. It'll
tune half your strings a step down.
DADF#AD
Open D
tune 6th string
down one whole step - tune 3rd string down one half step -
tune 2nd string down one whole step - tune 1st string down one
whole step
Tune the G string down a
step for this cool effect.
DGDGBD
Open G
tune 6th string down one whole step - tune 5th string down one
whole step - tune 1st string down one whole step
Check it out, Open G Tune
your gig fiddle and strum all your strings open. :0)
EBEG#BE
Open E
tune 5th string up one
whole step - tune 4th string up one whole step - tune 3rd string up
one half step
Strum down on open and you've
got an E... I've got to warn you, this high-tension tuning could break
your strings. I hate to break it to you but otherwise your strings
would have. I'd advise an Open D tuning with a capo on the second
fret instead.
CGCGCE
Open C
tune 6th string down two
whole steps - tune 5th string down one whole step - tune 4th string
down one whole step - tune 2nd string up one half step
Here's a cool one.
If you strum down open you'll hear a beautiful C.
DADFAD
Open D Minor
tune 6th string down one
whole step - tune 3rd string down one whole step - tune 2nd string down
one whole step - tune 1st string down one whole step
This is a tuning for the
sad person. It's nice and pretty.
EADEAB#
Tyson's Custom Tuning
tune 3rd string down half
a step - tune 2nd string down one whole step - tune 1st string
down one and a half steps
I made this up. Tune
this way and pick from the 4'th to 3'rd to 2'nd to 1'st to 2'nd to 3'rd
to '4th string... Beautiful, huh?
