Vibrato

What is it?
Vibrato is the quivering expressive sound of a note fluctuating in pitch.  It is shown in tab like this: v or this: ~

How do you do it?
Some people just have no patience, I'll tell you if you'll just wait a second.

Fret the note and pick it.  (hey, you gotta start somewhere) then roll the tip of your finger back and forth behind the fret in a straight line with the guitar neck vertically.  The rolling can come from your wrist, hand or a combination of the two, the finger should roll rather than move along the length of the string. Another way to do it.

Here's the way I like to do it.  Fret and pick the note, slightly bend the string that you pick, (honkin' slightly people) do that little bend and go back to your original place several times.  Of course I'll give you an example, here's more of the song above.

Slurs

What is it?
Basically, playing a slur is as follows, pluck a note.  After you pick that note slide to another fret with your fretting hand without sounding the note again, you can slide either up or down.  Slurs are shown like ---3/2\3--- the / is what shows it.  Okay, more Skeezix.
