Greatest advice I could give you, from a concerned parents point of view, is try to introduce them to other genre's of christian music. Get them out of the doom and gloom, and show them the light. Live shows help too. You see, I was born in a blues bar, so I know what it's like to feel the vibrations and the spirit of the occasion. It's just like the word, you must explain the meaning to the crux of it's creation. It takes enthusiam to move kids today. You got to warm their hearts while keeping it real enough to keep them moving. That's what kids look for, and it's up to you to bring it to them. Don't let the world choose it for them. Of course, understand that not all that you disapprove of is bad. The wise seek council, so don't stop asking questions, to God and to men and women of God.
It's a fair great deal of psychology that plays into this. And what a lot of parents fail to realize is the importance of music in a young one's life. An informal psyche evaluation could be performed just by perusing through their music. It's usually hit or miss, but a lot of how their feeling and thinking is usually interpreted by what their listening to. This is an important matter, so do your research. See yourself in your kids, and try and think how they think. And remember the world is CRAZY, BUT, God's in control.
Have any bands in particular that your worried about? Like I said, I was raised in a blues bar, but I've also been on the street for several years, been on more drugs than you have fingers and been apart of more illegal activities than I'm allowed to speak of.
But I've never left music, everything else has been taken from me, THANK GOD, but the one thing that is still in me is music. Granted I don't listen to all that anymore, and frankly confused by today's standard of christian music, but I will look into it. The sad part is, most scremo bands are enveloped in the overall sadness of the human condition. As if they aren't even saved in the first place. To know the Lord is to know the change he put in your heart, and to accept the path He put in front of you. Not to sit dumbfounded at the responsibility. Not that I'm any better. But God's working on me. " Yes Lord, yes Lord."
Reminding the human heart, regardless of how old it is, to stay humble, is one of the hardest tasks in the world. One we can't do on our own. Pray pray pray. Fast fast fast. Gob Bless you and your family.
Thanks! I took a break from this and facebook for a while. I just felt like I was spending to much time on virtual realities, and not enough doing other things. Married life is awesome!
Sweet. I'm pretty sure my name was just given to me cause my parents liked how it sounded. and because it means John which is a Bible name. but yeah...
