Dude.... don't worry about a lack of experience. Really. Nothing catastrophic can happen at 10-15 mph. Go out to a parking lot and practice, when it first snows and it's all fresh. Do it when you have like 4 inches or so on the ground, because it will be predictable and consistent driving conditions. Don't just screw around, but try doing drifts, try stringing left drifts into right, try recovering mid-drift.... try making sliding turns of differing radius.... etc.

For the record, I've driven my truck up to the local ski resorts around here, without issue. Some moron stopped in front of me as I pulled into the packed snow parking lot, and getting moving again was hard due to instant wheelspin. However, overall, the truck did better than the FWD economy car wagon, due to ground clearance issues.
