Some of our issues may be solved

It appears that some of our crashing was from bots spamming the blogs (the old Moveable-Type ones). For the day today, our top three hardest hitting things on the whole server are all mt-comments.cgi, which is the file used to put comments in the blogs. As a permanent fix, I've removed that file (well, renamed it, but the end result is the same). Hopefully this will help...

Is anyone still using those? Perhaps we could just do away with them all together? I know that MT blogs can generally be a little hard on site resources, especially when recompiling them.

I know that the e-mail address I had connected to my MT blog is getting killed with spam from that as well.

Amanda McClendon still uses it, but nobody else. I need to find a way to move her elsewhere, and then we could trash the whole thing.

Maybe if Luke would just hurry up with the new blogs and converters, we could just get over stupid MT! So, it's all Luke's fault!

I'm just kidding.

WordPress is similar (and better) to WordPress, and also has an import from MT feature.

Well, I don't know where you get off comparing something to itself, and calling it better than itself. But we are talking about MT here, not Wordpress.

I was about to pick on that also.

I pointed Amanda's blogfiles to the new filename, and renamed all of her archive files to end in .html instead of .php. That should throw off the spambots until the summer, when I can play with the blogs entirely, and work on getting her moved somewhere that will work for her.
