Ehh...unless it's extended by an hour and a half or so, I'm not really that interested. My main complaint about the film was that the stories were way too compressed to fit the runtime, so an extended version is definitely good...but I want a really extended version. According to IMDB, they actually shot each of the three stories in their entirety despite the fact that they knew they'd have to do extensive cutting. I'd like to see a two- or three-disc special edition that includes the completely uncut version of the film along with lots of special features.

EDIT: Ooooh, it does have a boatload of special features and commentary. That's a plus. But I still really want to see that unedited footage.

I've only read each of those comics once, but it seemed to me that the only one that they cut a major amount of stuff from was "That Yellow Bastard".

**SPOILER (sort of)**

They severely castrated the "Jackie boy, you son of a *****!" scene from The Big Fat Kill, which was one of the most powerful moments in the comics for me.

This movie is obscene pornography and should not be watched by any righteous self-respecting Christian.

I'll have to read that one again then. Which episode of that comic was it in?

Issue 2.

***MAJOR SPOILER***

Starting at page 20 and continuing through the end of the issue is a pretty lengthy internal monologue where Dwight realizes that Jackie boy was a cop and reiterates the gravity of the situation because of this finding. It's very tension-and-release, and by jaw just about dropped to the floor when I hit the last page of the comic. In the movie, if I remember correctly, they compressed the whole thing down to about fifteen seconds.

Personally, I thought all the corner-cutting and time-saving so raped the actual telling of the stories that the only thing I found enjoyable about the film was the visual style and the sheer originality of the production. It'll never be Sin City to me, because the real Sin City experience, to me, was all about the story.

Perhaps I should have read the comics before I saw the film. Because I did it the other way around, both the film and the comics work for me.

The new DVD excites me because I passed on the original dvd release for one like this. I'm also planning on picking up the comics fairly soon. As soon as funds allow.
