Any one have riveted rides/cymbals?

One time I heard a person play with a riveted ride and it sounded sooo cool. I think we should get one of our things riveted, but you know once you do it there is no going back, so if you have it... how did you determine what to rivet?

I have a 20" no name thin ride with four rivets. The wieght of the rivets and the number is what will make the difference. Four is nice because it adds just a little sizzle to the sound. I'll probably add more, just to make the cymbal feel different. The effect really works best on light cymbals, since they move more. I have seen some players with riveted crashes, and that is an interesting sound. If you don't want to do it yourself, I think Zildjian will do it to any new cymbal they sell.

I have a riveted crash. At one time it had four rivets, but no it is down to one, and there is a crack between two of the empty holes, but I love the sound even more.
