Getting a new dog! well,a puppy

I'll be getting a new puppy soon,I can hardly wait ! It's a Shar-Pei mix. That is the most wrinklest dog I've ever seen.I wanted a dog that looked mean, but isn't. A boxer would have been my first choice, but since I'm getting this one free I'm not complaining. It's not as big as the bull mastiff I had,but I'm hoping this dog will be as gentle. Ginger was a great dog,she looked like she could tear you up,but she was gentle as a lamb.I'm hoping this dog will end up like her. Has anybody had a Shar-Pei here? If so,please let me know more about these dogs.

I've never had a dog at all, though (at college) my program's "mascot" is a huge stuffed Shar Pei. Our program coordinator is... um... interesting.

Do you have your puppy yet? If so, how are things going?

He'll be here tonight. It's not going to get real big, that's a good thing! He looks more boxer than Shar-pei. I haven't picked out a name for him yet,I'm leaning on calling him "Buddy" after blues great Buddy Guy.I'm cleaning out his new room, the garage. I'll give more details when I get him. What college do you go to by the way?

I haven't heard great things about the Shar-Pei when it comes to Strangers and how they act. They really need to be socialized well with Strangers or visitors because they can be a little reserved and protective. They are great and loyal and calm with their owners though. Here is a great link for dog info.

I myself have a Chocolate lab and love them, boxers are great too as I saw you wanted to have one. That would've been a good choice. I think any dog can be great if you raise it right though, so don't let me comments shy you away from the pup. Also, name him Buddy, because Buddy Guy is one of the best guitarists ever. At the crossroads Festival he was the best!

I got him Thursday night,I named him Buddy. He is a Sharpei-Boxer mix. He has a black mask like a boxer and a curly q tail like a Sharpei. He has a lot of Boxer character about him, like prancing around like a Boxer, putting up his dukes, etc. He is a cool pup so far, kids that had him before spoiled him rotten, but other than that he's ok.I don't mind a dog that acts protective,as long as it's not too protective, but that's also the Boxer's instinct.I hope he turns out a mellow dog that will look meaner than he relly is,that's my goal for him.
