| My wonderful friend Harry made me a mix CD of the best songs of the year thus far, in his opinion. I'm currently listening to it. Here's the tracklist:
01. Sufjan Stevens - "Honey Buggy Band"
02. Final Fantasy - "This Lamb Sells Condos"
03. TV on the Radio - "I Was a Lover"
04. Akron/Family - "Raising the Sparks"
05. Howe Gelb - "That's How Things Get Done"
06. Danielson - "Cast it at the Setting Sail"
07. Nomo - "Divisions"
08. Gnarls Barkley - "Transformer"
09. Pigeon John - "Do the Pigeon"
10. Hidden Cameras - "Awoo"
11. Junior Boys - "In the Morning"
12. Half-Handed Cloud - "Rise to the Heavens on Evaporation"
13. Man Man - "Van Helsing Boombox"
14. Bryan Ferry w/ Antony - "Lowlands Low"
15. Augie March - "The Cold Acre"
16. The Decemberists - "The Crane Wife 3" |

| I spent this week in particular with two cds that I use as background music for my classes (I teach at a Christian classical school). One was Miles Davis' Kind of Blue, of course an acclaimed classic, and my attempt to culture the kids with one of the great achievements of Western music (not that there aren't better jazz pieces). The other is Trio Rococo's cd of Beatles songs arranged for strings. A wonderful demonstration of how the Beatles wrote timeless melodies, not just pop songs.

An insane amount of Azure Ray and Dredg. Can't seem to listen to anything else recently.

Which has nothing to do with what I'm listening to now, Lonestar. More specifically, My Front Porch Looking In. |
