The U2 album is getting a lot of hate from folks but I like it. It's definitely better than the last one. I don't know why people are surprised that a fifty-seven year old Bono doesn't have the same fire and intensity he had when he was twenty-three.

Agreed.

I'm loving the throwback to some sounds from their older albums. I didn't like the last album, either.

I will admit that the production value and some of the guitar tones are...meh. Songwriting isn't as eloquent as some others they've done, but I think it's a fairly solid album.

The way I see it, an average (even mediocre) U2 album is still better than most of what gets played on the radio today. They set the bar so high in the past that it will be nearly impossible for them to hit it again.
