A question about how Pitchfork tallies up their lists

Does anyone know how Pitchfork does their top 100 lists? Like, how many points are awarded to an album for being in a certain position on an individual writer's list. All I know is that those points are tallied up from every list and the big list is made. I ask because I thought that would be a fun idea to do here. Except limit it to something less ambitious, say top 25. Yes, this from the same guy that brought you "battle of the 90s". But I think this would be a better and more beneficial format than the failure that was the tournament. Everyone would submit their top 25 albums of the 90s list, and after a couple of weeks I would tally them up and report the results in a cohesive "CGR list". I just need to know how the point system works. We would just need about 20 lists (for added variety) to make it decent. What do you think?

Or heck, it doesn't have to be 90s. Could be top 25 70s or 80s. Whatever you guys think if you want to do it. It won't be much work. Just type out 25 albums.

I'm not sure, but as I recall they did a reversal type thing.

Basically, I think everyone submitted a list of however many albums (say 25). A 1st place got you 25 points, a 25th place got you 1 point.

Or I may be thinking of another site completely.

I'd be interested in playing this game, but it'd be easier to do "Favourite Albums Of All Time" or whatever.

I was going to try that a while ago as "Favorite Albums According To CGR". I wouldn't have worked because the #1 album would have had like, 6 votes.

Haha, yeah probably. But seriously, there would be alot of albums with 1 or 2 votes, a single favorite album probably wouldn't work.

The secular music forum is quite inactive, at least compared to other forums I use.

I thought it would be cool if we started up Featured Artists and Featured Styles. These are examples of what I mean.

Two featured artists I have written:

A featured style I have written:

I really enjoyed the Battle of the 90s. I'd actually like to try it again except have all posts or votes going towards influence be not counted.

This is a cool idea.

...and I think Scott is right on the scoring of the lists.
