done it already, he's very serious. He knows that it's stupid to date without considering marriage as a possible destination of the relationship. Not that he's proposed or anything, he just knows that it's serious. I mean, he's been waiting for almost a year already and still has another year and 3 months to go! It's obviously not just a fun thing for him, he's serious.
