Your team has try-outs? It's not open to whoever wants to participate? How big is your youth group?

My youth group's worship band has tryouts... we run about 100 kids right now. We have pretty good musicians so we can't just throw a newbie into the mix if they're going to constantly be behind everyone else. We do actively train students that are interested in joining and get them worked in slowly, so that they're comfortable on stage and can be reliable when they do finally get thrown into the live stage.

Be confident in your audition... in fact, I usually tell people to be aggressive with auditions. If they see that you're comfortable with your instrument (or with singing) it says you're ready to start taking control of the music and leading others.

I wish I had that many musicians too. I'm needing to find a backup drummer because our drummer right now is getting married in the fall and such.

use your audition as nothing more than worship to God, as long as your hearts right, then even if you dont get in at least you spent the audition praising

Hah, my youth group has about 80/85 on a decent night. And on our worship team we have;4 singers,4 drummers,3 guitar,3 bass, and 1 worship leader(also guitar and vocals.)
















We alternate tho.....
