I would guess its purely tradition. Its a social norm. The GENERAL idea of marriage is sunk deep in our culture. I mean EVERY little girl dreams of her wedding day in some romanticed fanatasy.

The problem is that we like this romantizied idea of marriage. We don't like the committment, the effort, the struggles....so we make it easy to keep repeating your fanatasy wedding. MAYBE HE'S THE ONE!

that's true. And you know what, when we look at our grandparents who've been married for 50, 60 years we don't see all the hardships they went through to make it that far...
From someone who's young and just got married... it's not *just* about the sex. It's knowing that no matter what happens my best friend is there for me. That when I go home after work, he's there.

I'm young, and I got married almost 7 months ago. It wasn't just for the sex. We love to be together, and that can happen a lot more often, and more easily married. No temptation, no driving home late at night, etc.

What you're saying is basically true. Non- Christan People are getting married less and less. I mean, look at the amount of people that live together for years and years before they get married.

Oh, and about what Bill was saying, sex is required for the marriage to actually be considered consumated by God. Without having the act of sex, you are not really truly married. I did this big study about it before my husband and I got married.
