That is a real stretch though. Not to cause a theological debate, but I believe that when you run into study Scripture, you should always start with the most logical conclusion. Basically, read what is on the page. If it says a thousand years, I kinda am inclined to say that it is a thousand years.
Besides, that verse has nothing to do with what you said. It says, 'as a...' not 'is a...'. It is just saying that it is like a thousand years/day. Not that it IS. |

The Deptford Trilogy by Robertson Davies (especially the third book World of Wonders)

They go to the Grand Canyon and then up to Oregon, and along the way God does some cool things in their lives, and they learn about each other more. It's a pretty fun read, about God and the Church and how to a have a good relationship with both. Not to mention multiple van breakdowns, ketchup and peanut butter sandwiches, and sneaking onto a driving range in the middle of the night.
It's out of print, but I highly recommend that you get on Amazon.com or something and try to find it used.
