JerryLove+pseudoscience

Hey JerryLove, I was reading the pseudoscience post in your FAQ. Maybe I misunderstood but after reading it I find it hard to believe that there is not one scientist who doesn't dabble in pseudoscience. I think everyone brings their own ideas and presuppositions to the table and that this affects their ideas. Science is also a discipline that runs on grant money; if scientists can't produce results then no grant money; no grant money then that scientist is working at BestBuy.

I think that the only person who could have performed true science free from psuedoscience could have been Adam (or first human as I do believe in evolution) because he would have brought absolutely no presuppositions or ideas to his view of the world. He would have had a fresh science.

Maybe I just misunderstood you post though JerryLove.

It's essentially a guide on how to recognize pseudo-science when it's presented (regardless of the presenter). I'm not trying to say who does or does not do it, though it was one of the posters here who prompted me to put it up.

It is a good guide, I think, to recognizing "bad science" in the guise of knowledge.

The old axiom stands:
Science - "here are the facts, what do they mean"
pseudo-science - "here is the conclusion, match the facts to it"

Thanks, I think my point was just that every scienctist wants their conclusion to go one way or another and as a future scientist myself I don't think you can escape that. I will try my best to do as much true science as possible but I will still be affected by my conditioning.

Although, I will say this, some scientists do more pseudo-science than others.

Do you have a link to the guide? I didn't see it in whichever previous thread it was mentioned in. If it's what I think it is, it's pretty good.

Also, this thread would be much better if it was entitled JerryLove+pseudoscience 4ever!!!
