as far as general hardness, Id say that a thought crushed my mind was very comparable in extreme nature to Zao.
Vow of silence is a prime example. Extremely hard, (though not precisely in the same sub-genre as zao) hardcore. But they have turned into some soft emoish band compared to what they were. I was thinking that it was comparable to zao/juliana theory. (Hence the Zao Comparison)

Blindside shifted radically in the album silence from the previous albums. Thus by keeping the same blindside name, the fans were of course not getting what they would have expected.
Thus I thought Zao's approach was honestly better for a drastic stylistic shift. That way it kind of gave warnings to the fans to expect something completely different.

| So they change their name for a different style so their fans don't desert them?...that makes sense....POD shoulda done that....

| I think that might be what he means, except Blindside didn't change their name, just their sound. |

exactly, which left a lot of people dissapointed over an album that was pretty good for its genre.

| Blindside yea i kno everyone is like this cd sucks compared to silence... and Yes, Silence was a great cd. but About a Burning fire is very different from other blindside cds ive heard. but that is not a bad thing either. What band can have a brilliant followup cd after a sucessful one? its very hard because of the expectation levels. so most people dont appreciate it at first. i am beginning to like this cd more now. I like alot of the songs on this cd but my favorite songs are Eye of the storm, Shakina, All of us, Die Buying and About a burning fire. the lyrics are awesome. another reason why blindside is one of my favorite bands. in my opinion, blindside made another sucessful cd.

That way it kind of gave warnings to the fans to expect something completely different. | On Blindside's first album they were not nearly as hard as A Thought Crushed My Mind...I'd actually compare Silence, AABF and Blindside to each other in that none of them are generally hardcore like ATCMM...They have their harder moments while A Thought..... seems to be nothing but hard... I personally think the redefinitions of style shouldn't have to entail name switches...If a fan doesn't like the switch they don't have to listen anymore and I'd say About A Burning Fire is quite good...Not Hardcord but definately in line with what they've done before

| When I first got this album, I liked Silence more, but About a Burning Fire has really grown on me a lot. Eye of the Storm, About a Burning Fire, Hooray it's LA, After You're Gone, Skekina, and All of Us are all great songs! As was said before, Christian has a great, unique voice, and they're a pretty unique band overall.
Oh, and they put on a great live show. |

| I really like this CD. Half the songs I love, and half I haven't even tried listening to yet...
Shekina, After You're Gone, and All Of Us are my favorite songs from this album. |
