why does this happen to me all the time?

twice in the last couple of years I have found out that one of my best friends likes the same girl as me, except I've liked her longer, and everybody knows it, not that I believe in the dibs rule when it comes to girls, but usually the guy comes and tells you himself. On both occasions I avoided confrontation and just went about my daily bussiness, and watched the girl I liked get swept off her feet by one of my friends. Well I found out today that one of my friends likes the girl I like again, and yet again I found out from someone besides him. I don't want to sit back and watch this girl fall for him just like in the past, but I don't know what to do. HELP?!!!! I'll take any suggestions on this one.

Sorry to say this, but you are your own enemy in this situation. If you like a girl, tell her and pursue her. Are your friends supposed to just sit around and wait while you've claimed 'dibs' on the girl?

Of course, I noticed that you are 15-16 years old, which might be a little young to start dating anyway....

Ever seen Spiderman? Peter had loved Mary Jane his entire life, but never done anything. And he ended up losing her to his best friend. Of course, in the end, he got her back. But I doubt you'll find a super villain who will kidnap her and let you resuce her. Especially at this time of night.

But, what exo said is true. It's not their fault that you didn't pursue her, and they shouldn't really be expected to base their lives around who you like. So, if you want this girl, then ask her out before your friend does.

sorry to be repetitive here... but if you like the girl, do something. Tell her. Don't wait for your friends to realize how totally right you are and like her too.

better to be rejected than never have the chance. or some such.

if you don't take action, she's still available, so they haven't done anything wrong, aside from breaking the "high school rules of conduct" or something.

this is so immature. you have no right to be upset if one of your friends starts wooing the "girl you like" this week/month/year/whatnot. if you like her, and you're interested in a relationship with her, and such a relationship would be profitable at your age (which it wouldn't), then tell her already and see what comes of it. you can't just sit there and fantasize and then get upset when your fantasies never amount to anything because you never do anything.

Because instead of asking the girl out, you've sat back and done nothing... twice. Want to make it thrice? I didn't think so. Ok then, next time you find that you are interested in a girl... go up to her and ask her out. And by saying that, I'm not saying that I think you should date while still in high school... because I don't see how any good could come of it.

I have no idea what you just said. Please try to type in complete words, sentences, and thoughts in the future so that your posts will be mutually beneficial for everyone.

Translation:

"Yeah, dude...

Oh, yeah... expect, like, don't say to this girl, 'I love you,' and stuff like that, unless she feels the same way, or something like that. And don't gossip about the guy that likes the girl you do, because then she'll think that you're mean and stuff."

Honestly, as annoying as "netspeak" is, y'all, it's not really that hard to understand. I don't see why people make such a HUGE deal over it. I mean, was what I just did really that hard?

In His love,
Nate

you're honestly saying that you couldn't do the "translation" that I just did?

Or are you, perhaps, meaning to say that you can't make sense out of incomplete sentences, and random unrelated thoughts?

I did the translation, but it was difficult. So that's one thing. Then to exacerbate the problem, the thoughts were written as you describe above.

I am trying as best I can to encourage today's youth to communicate well. If my previous post was offensive, I can try and remedy that type of response in the future.

I don't think girls are objects, I said in the 1st post that I don't think you should call "dibs" on girls. Also, some of y'all are way too critical, you don't know the whole situation and don't need to be so quick to judge. You can critisize people without puting em down. As for the spiderman analogy, that was one of the few posts on here that actually helped, and it was funny too.
