| I've been on that merry-go-round many times, and usually the conclusion is: the best evangelism is what fits appropriately at that point in time.
Billy Graham / Campus Crusade = massive and over with in one hour
Young Life / relational evangelism = slow one-on-one over many months
St. Francis of Assisi = good works (his quote "Preach the Gospel at all times and when necessary use words.")
I think the only thing that trumps all three is... BENNY HINN'S HAIR. |

| Share the good news all the time. When necessary, use words.
Augustine was such a wise man.

| I'm wondering though; Is it better to do really in your face evangelism which brings a lot of people through the metaphorical door but turns a lot of people further away or is it better to meet a lot of people where they are at and bring them a step closer to the door and only turn a few people away? |

| I don't think that there're special formulas for that.
What do you think about friendship evangelism? when you try to reach people near you, like at home and your neigbourhood, at school, at work, etc. The chance that they listen to you is bigger because they know you personally. |

| I would say that the "best" method, what I mean by best is the most God-honoring method of evangelizing, is the Permission method.

| well... I personally get to know the other person and what they believe and such. Just because it's really interesting to hear why they believe what they believe and then why they don't believe in Jesus Christ. Then you can go from there really. I'm not a person to hand out track cards on the beach (they do that a lot here) because God shows His love with a personal relationship, so I should show His love through me on a personal level. Not saying those are bad... all things have their purpose... but I would prefer not to do evangelism that way. It just makes me uncomfortable.. and I just like to hear people talk. lol. |

The number one question that will always come up is "What brings you to **town name**?" The way that you answer this question can be used by the spirit to let you know whom he is moving toward you or not. In my case I am a youth Pastor, so I would say something like "I moved here because I work with teenagers" Then if they were not truly interested they would accept that as small talk and move on. However if the Spirit is prompting them to go further, they will "give you permission" to continue to share about your journey. They will say, "Oh, in what way do you work with teenagers", and I would say "Well, I help them work through their emotional, family, societal, spiritual, whatever, problems". This again leaves it in their court, or asks them for further "permission". It is not really a method, but a mindset that helps you to have far more spiritual conversations with people. The point is not to push for conversion, but to let these people know that you are a safe person to talk to about this kinda stuff.
It is really cool. If you want to know more pick up "Permission Evangelism" by Michael Simpson.
I really struggled with finding the chance to talk to a stranger about Christ, but know I regularly have 3-4 conversations of spiritual matters a week. It rocks!! I actually feel like God is using me in great ways.
