This is what I'm supposed to report on:

"Although the American colonies no longer exist, many of the early governmental policies developed at that time are still in use today.

Research the governmental policies of the colonies that helped shape our Constitutional Republic today. Look for examples of policies that were established during the colonial period which are still in use today, such as the different branches of the government and the system of checks and balances. (A good reference is The Federalist Papers, No. 1, 2, 30, 45, 47, 69, 80.) Write your findings in a report of 500-750 words."

For the life of me I can't find anything on this. Probably because I'm not even sure how to research it. The Federalist Papers weren't any help. Can anyone here offer some help (articles to check out etc.)?

It sounds like you're just supposed to do a bit of research on things like the three branches of government and the system of checks and balances. These are the governmental policies implemented by the colonies that are still in place today. You know about, for instance, the three branches of government...right?

Anyways, as a practical solution to your question, I'm not going to give you articles to read (though I would, like your teacher, recommend the above Federalist Papers), but I am going to suggest you do some research either at the library or online on the phrases "three branches of government" and "checks and balances."

The *reason* I'm not going to give you articles is because part of the point of this assignment is to do the research yourself.

I second what De F is trying to say you need to do the report yourself but i would look up The "past three branches of the goverment!"
