Your Holiday Traditions (New Year's too)

I was just wondering what everyone else does for Christmas and New Year's Eve? My family on Christmas Eve don't do anything which is nice. On Christmas day we wake my parents up at 7am to open gifts. We move around furniture until there is room for everyone to sit on the cold hardwood floor. Then we pass around gifts and then begin to open them. This all ends around 8 or 8 30 so then we eat and then go check out our new stuff. By the time everyone has all their stuff to their room and has been playing with stuff it's time to get ready to go to my Nana's house. So at 2pm we leave for my Nana's and stay there till 10 or later. This year I'm starting a new tradition. I'm bringing my guitar and we are all going to sing Christmas songs.

New Year's Even isn't anything big for us, although, for some reason my mom won't let me spend it with friends; even though we do absolutely nothing!! That frustrates me, but sometimes I get away with going and bring in the New Year with people at my church. That's always fun.

Every year our parents buy us a new christmas ornament, so that we have some when we move out.

Yes, my grandma does this too. :-)
Our new years eve tradition is to go to my best friend's house and party. We always take all the wrapping paper from their family's gifts and rip it up so we have a ton of confettie for midnight! And then everybody in her family kisses everybody else hahaha But this year they are going to Kansas instead of Michigan, so I am gonna spend New Years with Sean :-) (no complaints haha)
fun fun

yeah we do that too. I like that tradition, and we also collect tree-topper angels and make cookies. Other then that, I'm very tired of traditions, they become mere task after so many years that they loose all the fun and excitment they once held. I dunno, I've had a terrible Christmas so far, and I wish all our traditions would be fun again, or just stop stressing about all the insignifigant ones. But anyways, enough hum-bug.

New Years we never do anything much, stay up late, and eat crab and cream cheese spread, yummy!

We do the ornament thing, also, although I don't think it's so we can have some when we move out (although that would be nice, come to think of it). I got one from our trip to DisneyWorld this year.

Maybe I'm just imagining things, but we have chili every Christmas Eve. It's not done on purpose, but that it's a rather simple meal to make in the mist of everything else for Mom and Dad (last minute wrapping, cooking). Dad also makes Christmas Tree-shaped "bread" (with loads and loads of sugar on them, of course....It's amazing how much sugar is on there) each Christmas Eve.

My parents always give us a few small presents (say, some candy, a video, and a book) on Christmas Eve, and we open those during the morning. On Christmas Day, also, we open our presents the "first" thing in the morning (whenever my parents are finished getting ready....we are a family of perfectionists).

Christmas eve- I go to church, rest of the family stays home.
Christmas day- listen to birthday calls on radio (due to Christmas day being my birthday) then go to my uncles for breakfast, then come back and have a lunch thing with friends then unwrap presents then just relax for the afternoon/night.

New Years Eve- stay up late, nothing much really.

Lacking any close friends or loving relatives, I tend to spend most of my time between Thanksgiving and New Years crying in a corner. But sometimes I drink.

Christmas eve: I go to church, and play bass for all 4 Christmas eve services. After that, we go to dinner at my dad's mom's house. Then we come home...

Christmas: I usually wake up at a horrible time, thanks to school screwing up my biological clock, and we open presents one at a time. Then my mom takes me to my her mother's house, and she gives me a special present (this year an iPod ) Then I come back, and chill for a few hours. Then at 12ish we go back to my mom's mother's house for a big family lunch and what not. Finally I'll come home, and listen to loud music.

New Year's Eve: Usually just stay up late. But this year I'm getting together with some friends at church, and we're going to watch movies/play paintball in the dark... It should be interesting.

Christmas Eve: We generally go to church, but my dad had to work 14 hours this Christmas Eve, so we skipped.

Christmas Day: Open presents in the morning. Eat chicken or turkey at about 2:00. Go to relatives' house for dessert.

New Year's Day: All is quiet on New Year's Day.

For Christmas, my family goes to the Christmas Eve Candlelight/Communion Service and then we go home and watch all those old clay/wood Christmas movies. On Christmas day, we open presents in the morning, then we either go over to one of my uncle's or my grandma's to eat food and then open more presents. On New Years, we normally have a party at my church with the youth group which has been a lot of fun. But this year, we can't because my youth pastor is in California with his family for Christmas.
