If you think Gmaj7 and play a Gmaj7 then you're a player. If you think Gmaj7 and have to ask someone(or look in a book) how to play that chord, then you're not.

When I say average I'm reffering to the mean average, or the poeple who lie in between the two extremes of guitar playing(people who kinda know the opening lick to smoke on the water, and Virtuoso)

This of course is all still subjective, but I hope I answered your question dave.
I understand what you're saying by "player" now, and I do know that term the way you used it, but I was using it in a different way; player being anyone who is not a professional. It doesn't really matter though, because you prove my point exactly that a survey like this is a farce because everyone has their own reference. If we all rated ourselves with Joe Satriani being a ten, then I would think that none of us would rate ourselves as tens. Unless of course, you go back to the advice I gave in a previous post - if you're that good, you should get off this website and play guitar

Actually, the technical term for "slur" is a smooth transition from one note to another. So really it is what Rainer said, as a slide is much smoother then a pull-off.

You would be surprised how useful it (rasqueado ) is in general acoustic rhythm play. This is especially true if working in a Spanish rhythm or chord progression.

I'm not trying to be controversial or divert the thread...I just think that its at least as useful as some of the other techniques mentioned here and should be considered as something valuable to learn for more than just classical/flamenco.

Years playing: 10

Why did you start playing: It was my first year of high school...already played bass, what else was I supposed to do with my free time?

Biggest influences: lots of people. Current favorites include The Edge, Brad Paisley, Michael Landau, and Bill Frisell.

Perfect pitch (yes or no): No. I was horrible in aural skills. One of the biggest reasons I changed my major in college.

I rate myself around average on most of those things. That's what I am. Average. Below in some areas, a little above in others, but certianly not a really super good player. I do feel that I'm able to do what people ask me to do (either in reading a part, or improvising a part). I don't strive to be a super chops monster. I want to play parts that the people that I play for like and I want to be the kind of player who gets asked back.
