I just wanted to clear up some possible confusion with one of silvernitrate's posts:

Quote:
I'm not sure if you (brandontmilan) would like wheat beers... but my favorite wheat beer is Pyramid. It's about as sweet as I like my beers to be. (I'm not a fan of sweet beers) However, this one has a hint of orange... and it's very smooth.
just for the record, Pyramid is a brewery that makes many, many different types of beers. Keeping in mind that I like stouts, pilsners & ambers, and don't like really hoppy bitter beer like IPA's, here are my thoughts:

Pyramid Hefeweizen is quite good, in fact I like it better than the Widmer Brothers version. A good, unfiltered wheat beer

Apricot Ale: Nice, light, almost like a pilsner, but with a taste of apricots. It's a great summer afternoon beer, IMO

Curve Ball: This is a summer seasonal, and it's probably my single favorite Pyramid beer. Not really sweet, with a hint of bitter, but a smooth finish.

In the winter beers, I do NOT like Pyramid's "Snowcap" stout. It is too bitter, and i'm just not a fan. Widmer Brothers "Snowplow" is also a nice dark winter beer, but it is a milk stout, and is smooth, creamy and while it does have some bitterness, it also has a sweet touch to go with it. Probably the best domestic stout, IMO.

I also agree, canadian beer sucks. Except for microbrewed canadian beer. Basically, it's the same situation as american beers.

Lately though, I've been drinking low quantity stuff like "Brown Shugga" which was excellent (too bad it's made in tiny, tiny quantities, and only in winter)-

Oh, and I've been drinking a lot of Belgian beers. Those belgians are crazy though, as I'm pretty sure that you cannot find a belgian beer that is NOT 9.9% ABV. Too contrast this, beer flavored water (errr, budweiser) is like 3.2% ABV and guiness is in the 4-5% range. A single beer thusly has a much more profound affect on a person, so beware.

Duvel - amber ale - good, creamy touch of bitter, smooth.
Duvel Double Bock - the king of all beer, smooth beyond smooth. Soooooo good.
St. Bernardus Abt 12 - Beer made by belgian monks, apparently. Absolutely the best stout i've ever had, ever and my current favorite beer. If you are lucky enough to find it on tap, it seems to average $9/glass. If you can find it in bottles, it's about $9/liter.

I pulled out the Dr. Grabow tonight and smoked some of my custom blended Vanilla Clove. Tasty. It still burned a little hotter than I would like for it to but I guess that may be from the cloves. I've been thinking about taking a little of my Middle Earth blend (thanks again Mr. Shoup) and adding some cloves. I've got almost a full bag and the cloves worked really well with the Vanilla...we'll see.

I really need to invest in something to keep my tobaccos in. Right now I have them double-bagged in Ziplocs. Any suggestions for something that won't take up any space? I have a corner on the top shelf in my closet and that's it.

Anything airtight. Space being an issue, maybe something stackable?

I tried a black and tan last night. It was nice, but not overwhelmingly good. It was just like having two beers in one. Hmm.

Do you already have a tobacco pouch?

Is there really any point in a tobacco pouch if you're not taking your tobacco anywhere?

That's what I'm thinking. Right now it's just plastic baggies and Tupperware.

That's what I use. Just air-tight plastic containers. And because you've got it in the closet, light isn't a problem.

I live in a town nestled right in the mountains, and there is this hill 100 yards behind my apartment that I climb sometimes when I want to be alone to think and have a smoke. It is a beautiful night, the stars are out, I have this Portofino I need to get smoked, and a lot on my mind. The conditions were perfect. I bust out my cigar cutter, and then my phone rings. It was an important call (my ex, who I am trying desparately to make amends with, has agreed to go out for ice cream with me!!!), we talk for a little while, and then hang up. Back to the business at hand. I get the stogie from the tobacco stash in my closet, smell it, reach in my pocket for the cutter...and its gone. I look everywhere. The little thing has disappeared. My hopes are crushed.

I settle for my Djarum Supers, the whole pack of which costed less than the cigar I had my heart set on. I like the cloves, but its not even my favorite flavor, and when you want the stogie....

It was a disappointing evening.

Teeth, my friend. Sure, it's not exactly the same as cutting it, but it still works. The important thing to remember is not to do it like you've seen in movies. When you bite the tip of a cigar off, you're only taking/pulling the cap off. If you were to bite off the whole end, the wrapper wouldn't hold together very well.

I suppose not, though a good pouch with a humidifier in it is better than a Ziploc bag (said the man who sells pipes, though I suppose that he could have been hawking pipe accessories).

Friday is my 21st. I'm going to a local pub to have a Killians (on tap) and a whiskey sour (two things that I *ahem* already know I like). I want to try one more drink after that--suggestions?
