Why must enjoyable things be abused by some then wrecked for everyone in return?!

I am REALLY enjoying some Oaked Arrogant Bastard Ale. I used it earlier this week in my chili that I'm working on for the upcoming church chili cook off. It was a HUGE hit with our college group. Still perfecting the recipe, but I know for SURE that Oaked Arrogant Bastard Ale is going to be the key ingredient.

That's interesting, I wonder if menthol smokes are more of an American craze. When I was in high school, if you smoked menthol you were a laughing stock. Next to nobody smokes menthol where i'm from.

Some. One of the finer points of smoking menthols where I am is when somebody asks to bum a smoke you just say "yeah, but they are menthols if that's cool"
9 time outta 10 they make a face and ask somebody else.

SCORE!

I bought my first stout kit. I'm picking up my yeast tomorrow... this will be a cool Christmas gift for some family and friends.

Went to Indianapolis yesterday and was able to stop by the biggest wine/spirit/beer store (Kahn's) that I've been to so far. Much larger than anything accessible to me on a day-to-day basis.

Bought some new stuff.

Orval Trappist Ale
Recommended to me by a family member, something unique to try.

Trappistes Rochefort 8
Not normally having access to Trappist beer, this is more of an impulse buy, not knowing anything about it. (#76 on beeradvocate, FWIW)

Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier
Got a 6 pack. Had one last night. Tasty. Very much reminds me of Franziskaner's Hefeweizen. (#33 on beeradvocate)
(Hefeweizen is quickly becoming a favorite style of mine.)

Hitachino Nest Red Rice Ale
Bought this locally several days ago. *shrug*

I'll try to report back on these... Definitely the most expensive/unique stuff I've bought so far. Hopefully they live up to the hype.

Well, I turned 19 earlier this month. So now being legal age to drink alcohol, i've been contemplating what kind of beer I should by for my first drink.
At first I was just going to buy the Saskatchewan favorite Pilsner. Then I thought maybe I'd buy some Heineken imorted Lager. So I went into the liquor store today to buy a 6 pack of Heineken (bottled), then I came across these real sweet looking bottles of Jamaican imported Lager, called Red Stripe. I thought "i've never talked to anyone that have said they've tried this, it might suck" but I decided to give it a try anyway.
I have never drank beer before, and I can proudly say I have never been intoxicated and don't ever plan on it. I'm excited to try it, and tonight I will. I wish I had a Cuban to go along with it, but alas, I am broke.
I didn't even get ID'd when I bought it, which I thought was strange, because I can't grow facial hair or anything. I often look rough, but I thought I looked quite young. I guess i'm getting old.

Red Stripe is a very decent lager. Meatfinger and I have both talked about it way back in the bowels of this thread.

I have nothing to say about how Red Stripe tastes, but I love their commercials.

Hooray Beer!
