| I haven't had a clove since October, and even then I was only smoking about once or twice a month. I probably won't be smoking them again until I'm out of my parents' house, either. Is that spaced out far enough?

| Well boys & girls, at the behest of this thread...I created a thread requesting the creation of a "Finer Things Forum". However, no one has really shown up to give their support...so it looks like it will die quickly.

Did anyone see the last episode of House, where Dr. House prescribed a patient cigarette smoking for irritable bowel? Haha. |

| What are cloves?
mmmm I love cigars.
The first time I had one I threw up very badly. I have only had 5, all special occasions with my dad (eg. on a cruise, wedding, birthday, parents party, ect) |

| It's Christmastime so you could probably add some nutmeg and eggnog in there whilst you're at it. |

| *sigh*
In two more days I'll be legal in Europe.
Until then, I'll have to work on my beard and philosophy. |

#194 | | Puts the sexy in dyslexia | Pipe frustrations With the weather being slightly more tolerable recently, I've had a couple chances to try out the pipe. I have a lot of trouble keeping the thing lit. While it is my understanding that the first lighting doesn't always hold, and it is not uncommon to have to relight it, I find the pipe going out 5-10 times a bowl. Is this normal, or am I doing something wrong? I suppose I also don't fully understand the concept of tamping. In my experience, all tamping has done for me is put my pipe out.
There have been a few times where the thing stayed lit for more than a couple minutes, and I have had some enjoyable smoking experiences. But even there, I think I enjoy the taste of cloves more than Captain Black. Would I likely enjoy other tobaccos more than Captain Black? If the pipe would stay lit, I think I really would still enjoy smoking it, so I haven't given up on it yet. I suppose I'm just looking for some words of encouragement from my fellow smokers and those of you who likewise enjoy the finer things in life. |

| yeah, its tough to get a good light... the first couple of times i smoked my pipe, i had to relight 5 or 8 times... and i still am far from perfecting it... don't give up, once you test out some different tobaccos, i'm sure you'll find something you like...
