It was shot down because the Admins didn't think it would get enough traffic, amongst other things. Looking at the activity in this thread, however, suggests otherwise to me. Maybe this spring we can request the creation of a "Finer Things Forum" to cover Alcohol, Tobacco...and God's other gifts that Baptists call "bad".

| I started a forum back a couple of years ago, when I was a more active member, called "Smoking Like Spurgeon" the first time I had ever smoked a cigar, and it got a huge response like this... I think its because most people who use tobacco (or alcohol or any number of things) are afraid to talk about it around other Christians, until someone else brings it up, that is...
Its the same way at school. I go to a small Baptist, liberal arts college, in which tobacco is loosely forbidden. But, if one hints at the fact that they smoke, others will readily admit that they enjoy tobacco as well. And I've also found that just as many are willing to try... and surprisingly, few people are condemning. I've also found that a lot of girls really, really like pipe smoke. Cigarettes, however, are generally looked down upon. A whole lot of guys dip, though. Very few people chew.
Oh, and I don't think that they pipe I recieved as a gift was a Dr. Grabow... but i may be wrong... it wasn't very expensive, i know that much... the picture on my avatar is of me smoking a Dr. Grabow... from Walmart...

| I quit trying to justify what I do to other people a long time ago. If people want to think bad of you they will find some reason. I certainly wouldn't want to cause a brother to stumble but at the same time I am not going to live to suit Pharisees. Most of them can't live to suit themselves. It seems that people have favorite hobby horses they like to ride. Very few in this country consider overeating as sin,(gluttony) which is just as harmful to the body.

No,really what I meant was that people set up standards for others that they can't live up to themselves. It's called self-righteousness. People have a way of imagining what a Christian should do and be. I just quit trying to please everyones ideas and live according to my own understanding of truth.

| Hope you enjoy them. Don't forget to put a slice of apple in the pouch of tobacco. Just leave it there till it dries up.
