Feast of the Immaculate Conception

I'm surprised that no one has already put a thread on this here. I couldn't because I was away from the cpu all day, but here it is. Pray for us Holy Mother of God, that we may become worthy of the promises of Christ, Amen.

Did anyone do anything special, besides going to Mass, to commemorate the feast?
Did you know that Our Lady, under the title of the Immaculate Conception, is a special patron of America? It's very cool.
I was in Alabama for the feast, at the Shrine of the Blessed Sacrament (Mother Angelica's shrine, convent, etc.) The Mass was [b]incredible[/i]. I could write and write about how well their Mass is performed (completely reverently and without error... and with lots of Latin!).

Oh Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.

Just wondering. Do the Catholics view Revelation 12 as the Christmas story?

Umm... no, well I don't and other Catholics don't as far as I know. Should we?

I actually believe Rev. 12 is a very Marian chapter in Scripture. I believe that it shows that she was assumed body and soul into heaven, that she was crowned queen of heaven and earth, and that she was indeed born without original sin and never gave into sin. I find it amazing how much Marian teaching this chapter shows.

Yeah, I was just wondering because I have read a lot of things that say its another version of the Christmas story and I noticed is showed a lot of Marian doctrine so I was wondering if this was a widely held Catholic belief.

How does it demonstrate her sinlessness?

There is a connection in the sense that Mary is the Woman and that she gives birth to the One who rules with the iron rod, Jesus. In this sense they combat Satan, but I tend to focus on the Marian doctrines that are taught there.

I went into a good bit of detail on this in a discussion with(I think Donny, or Lightnight) along time ago. I'm sure you won't understand it in the same way that I do.
