I wasn't drunk drunk. I was on my way there I guess but it takes a lot of alcohol for me to get drunk (and I don't like being drunk like that).

It's not that crazy...

It's more or less a way to propose for engagement. You meet up with a jewlerer before you even order to pick the diamond you pick, and basically its a love kinda thing. People shell out more money for worse things then that. And GoldSchlager's disgusting I'm sorry. So is alcohol.

buying a drink that costs that much is more foolish then buying a grilled cheese with Mary on it

I wouldn't want one, but it would probably be a better investment than the poor fellow who successfully bid something like almost $800,000US for a bottle of 1770's wine and the lighting of the auction house caused the cork to pop and spoil the wine and became vinegar instead. (this was in the Guiness book of records)

My friendship with [Tolken] broke down two of my former prejudices. On my first coming to this world, I was warned implicitly, never trust a Papist, and on receiving my fellowship to Magadline College, was warned explicitly, never trust a phillogist, Tolken was both.

I think it's being a terrible steward of your money. But it's a nice thought.
