Chapman's All Things New THE Tour of '04/'05 raising over $750K for Shaohannah's Hope

Steven Curtis Chapman kicked off his "ALL THINGS NEW" nationwide tour last month where several of the shows were in front of sellout crowds. In fact, just 20 dates into the tour, Chapman has performed in front of sold out or near capacity crowds at almost every show, averaging 5400 people a night. Sellouts were in Washington, D.C., Houston, Tyler, Minneapolis, Birmingham, Atlanta and Memphis. The Minneapolis and Houston shows each had over 10,000 people in attendance, while the concert yesterday in Washington, D.C. was sold out for over three weeks.

Based on the comments coming in from the concertgoers, the "All Things New Tour" fulfills the promise of the exciting concert experience for which Chapman is well known. Here are just a few comments from concertgoers:

"I was amazed at the production and the way the concert was presented. The worship experience was awesome. I have been to over 120 concerts in my lifetime and this has to be one of the best concerts I have been to. I love how Steven takes the stage first and opens the night!"

"For those who have the opportunity to go to any of these concerts do try - it will really uplift your spirits and it's wonderful for your kids. The Birmingham concert was AWESOME!"

"I was able to see Mr. Chapman in his All Things New Tour…and I have to say it was AWESOME!!! It was my first time to go to a Christian concert, and I'm hooked. I've known the Lord since I was 15 years old, and never have I felt Him more then at Mr. Chapman's concert. Thanks to Mr. Chapman for the awesome music, and in how it can lift a person up."

The tour, scheduled to hit 40+ cities this spring, features songs from the new album as well as his hits from the past 17 years. The spring leg will begin February 10th in Oklahoma City and close May 1st in Jacksonville, FL. Spring tour dates are listed below, along with the remaining dates for 2004.

"What an incredible start to this 70-city tour," says J. David Huffman, COO Creative Trust. "The impact of the evening is very high by all counts both in attendance, spiritual and musical energy in addition to the vast number of children and families who will be helped in adoption assistance through this tour. With Chapman kicking things off for the whole night, he, Casting and Tomlin have teamed well to make this a true ALL THINGS NEW kind of evening."

The tour is sponsored by Shaohannah's Hope, the Chapman family's adoption foundation named after their first adopted daughter, Shaohannah Hope, now age five. Since the start of the tour, over $750,000 has been raised, soon to surpass its $1,000,000 goal. With the motto "Building A Bridge," over 400 people have expressed interest in adopting and more than 1300 concertgoers have signed up to join the Stevey Joy Club, a monthly giving program. As an incentive, each Stevey Joy Club member receives a jade bracelet from China, a replica of the bracelet Chapman wears. New members also receive the email newsletter Orphan Voice, and if you sign up at the concert, new
members receive the All Things New CD or the "Shaoey & Dot: Bug Meets Bundle" children's book, written by Chapman and his wife, Mary Beth.

All donations towards Shaohannah's Hope and The Stevey Joy Club go towards grants for adoption. In addition, for every dollar donated during the "All Things New Tour," a friend of the foundation will match each dollar, up to $500,000 (www.shaohannahshope.org).

The "Shaoey & Dot: Bug Meets Bundle" book is published by Tommy Nelson. According to STATS (Sales Tracking Analysis Trends Summary) for the month of December, the book is at No. 13 on the CBA children's best-seller list. Chapman's highly rated All Things New CD debuted at No. 1 on the CBA chart, continuing to remain in the top 10, while the project's first single, "All Things New," also topped the radio charts. The next radio single already climbing up the charts is "Much Of You." Amazing key reviews have been posted about the project. Here are just a few comments from the media gamut:

"Instead of rehashing Scripture or relying on tired rhetoric, he [Chapman] offers thoughtful ideas—the mark of a good songwriter—using personal examples, catchy turns of phrase, and introspective questioning. You wouldn't think this would be a rare trait, but so much of today's Christian music relies on worshipful platitudes and generalities. Here's a guy expressing faith amid everyday living with lyrics that are all his own. The difference is like cool water in a desert. There's no question that Steven Curtis Chapman remains Christian music's most heralded artist." – ChristianityToday.com, which also named All Things New one of the Best Christian Albums of 2004

"Steven Curtis Chapman is blazing a brand new trail of diverse pop gems on All Things New…[his] reinvention demonstrates that diversity in artistry doesn't have to be a sales gimmick – just a sign of the continued maturity that often comes with experience." – CCM "Kudos to SCC for taking a shot in the dark. He just made the album of his life. All things new indeed." – Youth Worker Journal (which also gave the project an A+)

This December, Chapman will appear at Walt Disney World's Epcot Center as he joins a well-known list of celebrities narrating the 34th annual Candlelight Processional and Mass Choir Program, a retelling of the traditional Christmas story. Chapman is scheduled to narrate Dec. 17-19th. Other narrators are Jim Caviezel (The Passion Of The Christ) and Gary Sinise (Forrest Gump), among many more.
