Okay...I'm going to go with it being a Teisco (of some discription. It might not say Teisco on the headstock, but they made guitars for everyone that would have just been relabeled...and it looks like the original badge is gone). The headstock, bridge, and rocker switches make me lean pretty far in that direction.

Give me a minute and I should have a model number for you...

Ta-da...

Okay...it's like a less deluxe version of a Teisco Spectrum 2 (no vibrato, no block inlay).

Probably not much. I was actually just checking eBay...the only Teisco guitars that go for anything are the ones that were kinda rare to start with, and that are in immaculate condition. There were auctions for quite a few Spectrum 2's and ET-200s (like the one you've found, except a different body) that sold for less than $100.

Where is Major Tom when you need him? He knows more than I do about such things, but based on my limited knowledge I'd agree with some of the comments above - probably late 60's-early 70's, sort of similar to several models from the makers mentioned above during that time.

That said, quality is very hit-or miss on an old guitar like that. Some of the old Japanese guitars are VERY good, especially if they have been well-cared-for. Some of them started off junk, and there's no way they're any good after this long. It's going to be pretty hard to help with this decision from afar, and it really doesn't matter what we think anyway. Play it, negotiate the best price you can get, then decide if that guitar is worth that much money to you.

It's a Silvertone. Atleast I think it is. It has a lot in common with mine. Those things inclue:

The string tree kinda thing.
I think it has a zero fret. So does mine.
the bridge and saddle are the same as the ones on mine.
It has the same truss rod adjustment device.
It has a plywood body like mine.
It has the same cable jack/knobs as mine. (but my knobs are white.)
It has the same tuners on the plate. Just like mine.

I'll post a link to pics of mine later. I just repainted it.
Mine is a 1969. on the underside of the pickguard it said 1969/3 (I would guess the 3 means march).
Mine is a strat-shaped body.

That should work.

I forgot to mention that your guitar has the same headstock as mine.

That is one of the sites I used. There is also an unofficial Teisco page. Should come up near the top in a google search.

yours is just like his, a generic looking 1960s electric guitar. i'm sticking with the idea of it being a stripped paint teisco.

I remember those - that floral/vine pattern on the pickguard... That's an old Teisco, from somewhere between '69 and maybe '72. I would say it has been stripped of its original finish; they were usually a light blue metallic or something. Those were sold at discount department stores, they were the equivalent of like a $99. guitar in today's market. I'm pretty sure they were made in Japan - in that era, there was a lot of chintzy junk imported from there. When I was young, the phrase "made in Japan" was synonomous with cheap crap - that changed in the '70s. Anyway they are pretty much junk -crappy thin sounding pickups, cheap hardware. Those old Japanese guitars are also known for narrow width necks. Of Japanese guitars from that period, some were decent - pretty good, but that one is bottom of the barrel. It would be a novelty guitar at best with a "garage band" vibe.
