MercyMe WINS American Music Award

Platinum recording group MercyMe won their first American Music Award in the category of Favorite Contemporary Inspirational Arist last night during the three-hour special on the ABC Television Network. The special took place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and was hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.

MercyMe presented the award for Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist to Sheryl Crow.

MercyMe's new live double disc DVD, MERCYME LIVE, recently shipped Gold when it hit store shelves on October 26th. The two discs are jam-packed with footage, including over one hour of live concert footage and performances of favorite MercyMe songs like "I Can Only Imagine" and "Word of God Speak," as well as hits from UNDONE, "Here With Me" and "Homesick," the latter of which was recently the most-added song at Christian AC radio for two weeks in a row.

The band hit the red carpet last night prior to the broadcast and made the media rounds following their win and live presentation, conducting interviews with numerous national media outlets such as Extra, Good Morning America, TV Guide Channel, E! News Daily, CNN and Reuters TV.

I'm pretty mad because I live right behind the Shrine Auditorium (next to USC!) And I didn't think these great guys would be at such a pagan (jk) event. Dah! I could have walked over and seen both bands!
