VeggieTales' 25th Episode Duke and the Great Pie War Nobly Bows March 5

Big Idea treats Veggies like royalty in the 25th VeggieTales release Duke and the Great Pie War, a lesson in true love based on the biblical story of Ruth and Naomi. The episode bows March 5 and 8 in the CBA and general markets respectively.

A Synopsis

When the armies of Rhubarb go to battle against the Kingdom of Scone, the Great Pie War breaks out and things get really messy! Sweet Petunia, a charming young rhubarb and newest VeggieTales character, is forced to flee her homeland to protect her mother-in-law, Nona (Madame Blueberry). When the Duke (Larry the Cucumber), learns of the Princess's plight, he risks his life to help her and learns that true love means thinking of others first.

VeggieTales Spectacular

Supporting the release of Duke and the Great Pie War, Big Idea is exclusively inviting CBA retailers to treat their customers like royalty with a VeggieTales Spectacular Premiere. VeggieTales Spectaculars are events held on a single day in movie theatres, churches and stores nationwide. Duke and the Great Pie War premieres will be held March 5, 2005, and are designed to increase the sales of VeggieTales products, introduce more families to the VeggieTales brand, increase in-store traffic and create customer loyalty to CBA retail.

"The Spectacular Premiere strategy has been very effective for Big Idea on previous releases and should prove beneficial to retailers as they market Duke and the Great Pie War," states Leslie Ferrell, Big Idea Sales VP.

"After several years between VeggieTales premieres, we hosted a Sumo [VeggieTales: Sumo of the Opera] event and had a great time," confirms retailer Cliff Muller from The Carpenter's Son. "The kids were excited, the parents were happy, and after the show our store was buzzing. We can't wait for the next one – Big Idea has made the event almost effortless."

To support the premieres, Big Idea will provide a free Event Guide available December 3 that offers step-by-step instructions and lots of ideas on how to have a successful premiere, as well as a free Event Kit, available January 7, that includes a complete premiere promotional pack allowing retailers to effectively advertise their events. The Event Kit includes:

Bag stuffer artwork
Newspaper ad artwork
Radio disc (with taggable spots)
Two 24 x 36 inch and ten 11 x 17 inch promotional posters
Customizable press release
Customizable invite letters to churches and schools
Balloons
Two Duke coloring pages
Pre-show trivia & sing-along DVD / Duke and the Great Pie War DVD
(most theatres can now show DVDs)
"Register to Win Free VeggieTales DVDs" form plus five DVDs for winners.

Retailers can also order the Duke and the Great Pie War mini-magazine, which make a perfect gift for the premiere attendees, as well as postcards and tickets to help promote the event.

Pre-Sale Promotion

In addition to the premieres, Big Idea will offer an exclusive to CBA Retail Duke and the Great Pie War pre-sale promotion. Customers who purchase the Great Pie War before March 5 will receive their choice of a Princess or Duke 24 x 36 inch glow in the dark poster. Available January 20, retailers are encouraged to quickly place their orders. A "coming soon" poster and mini-standee support the pre-sale promotion–both items also ship on January 20.

A Royal Incentive!

As an extra bonus, retailers who host an Spectacular and offer a presale are eligible for extra discounts on their DVD and VHS product order and are entered to win a cruise for two! Retailers should consult with their Word Distribution sales rep for details. More information is available on www.WordDistribution.com.
