| Coin collecting I collect coins - old coins, foreign coins, rare coins, etc. It's been awhile since I added anything significant to my collection (mostly just wheat pennies and the like), so I was wondering if anyone else around here collected coins and how you go about getting them.

| I want to start collecting coins, I just want to know how to start off? Do you buy the old coins? Or Find them? If you find them, where do you find them? |

I've heard of some people who will go to a bank and buy fifty dollars worth of pennies, nickels, dimes, etc. in rolls and then go through them to see if there's anything good.
You can check at a library or bookstore (I prefer library, it's cheaper ) and see if they have books about coins or that have the values of coins. Those are very helpful. A lot of them will also tell you if there are any rare coins to look out for. The valuable ones aren't just old ones. Sometimes there will be a certain coin that was only minted for a short time or that has a certain mint mark on it (the mark of the city where it was made), and they could be valuable, depending on the circumstances.

| After a long few hours, I found that I have every quarter that came out in, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003, I almost have all of them from 2002, but all I need is Indiana 2002, all I need for 2004 is Florida, texas, and Wisconsin. if you have any, and have extras of them,I would be glad to take them off your hands, lol |

The Indiana 2002-D = $1.25
The Indiana 2002-S = $9.50
The Indiana 2002-S 90% silver = $19.25
For the other states it's about the same price.

I'm sure there is a coin shop around where you live, (unless you live in the sticks like me) that will help you get started in collecting.

#13 | | Resident Botguy | If you really would like to get started in coin collecting keep a look out in your neaest town that has a population of 50,000 or more and they should have an annual coin show.. Now that is a place to start.. I work at some of them here in my state with my grandpa.. so yeah.. wheat pennies unless you have like 3 certian dates they aren't worth much.. but they're great for beginners... mostly only the pro's go to banks and search through money... it's too tedious and mostly gains little rewards.. yeah..
