| Not a Manitoba thing. They are all across Canada. I've haven't seen one yet but I do know that they are a national currency thing.
Peace and love,
Rhonda.

| I've seen a couple. I've also discovered that the red stuff comes off when scotch tape is applied to it... |

| Yah ive seen em around. If u go to Tim Hortons then you can get one if you pay with cash and get change back with quarters. it kinda looks like the poppy was colored on with a crayon. anyone agree? |

| I bet members of our Parliament spent the past few months colouring them. They are so dedicated to our national interest. |

I <3 Politicians.
And to answer the real question, no I haven't even seen those quarters. I live under a rock, and I don't generally pay in cash. |

What ones are you referring to?
I gotta be honest...if the Federal government was as dedicated and determined as our provincial premier (Danny Williams), I think we'd be doing a lot better.
We'd definitely have a lot more colored coins |

| Well, I must admit that it was a great idea to pay tribute to our veterns who fought for our freedom in the wars, this was a great idea in my opinion. Here comes the "however" the poppys do rub off if u run your finger over it a few times
As my friend put it, we are the first to come up with the idea, the Americans will be the ones to perfect the idea. The color can't just be a dye placed on the coin, the dye would need to be added to the metal before the coin is stamped.
They do look really cool though, I have kept one for myself |

I've seen them and yes, I got it at Tim Horton's. The paint is already scratching off. If they used metal dyed red somehow it'd be better. As long as it didn't end up like the original twonies.

| I finally got one the other day. I was desperate and needed a good Tim's (and it was good) and I also got the quarter... Double score!
Peace and love,
Rhonda.

#12 | | needs a new avatar | i'm pretty sure that you couldn't accually make the metal red....in order to do that, you would have to add dye to a molten metal....the dye would instantly burn....if you could do that(which you can't) it wouldn't matter, because all the metal would be red then....then you would have to something like the toonie....when they make the blanks(unstamped coins), they are simply hole-punched from a sheet that had been pressed flat....even if you could dye a part of the metal before being pressed, the shape would end up distorted...so the paint is the only thing we can do....and i didn't have that much trouble with my poopy quarters....
Ya....i know too much about this.....i'm a geek...
