VOICE PARTS: WHAT DO YOU SING?

Hey guys! Just curious to hear what parts you sing. I am a soprano.

once upon a time I thought I was an alto. however, I can sing soprano up to what my theory teacher says is about the highest note a "normal" soprano can sing. (there's a soprano at my school who has an INSANE range. she can go super high) but then again, I sang the alto part when I was in choir. maybe I'm both.

Tenor all the way. When I was in 6th and 7th grade I could sing higher than any of our sopranos. I miss those days...

Ha! Your story sounds farmiliar. All through High School I was an alto. So, then, I come to college, audition for hte choir, and the professor wanted me as a soprano. Who'd have thunk? Heh!

So I think I am both as well.

I can hit everything from a medium bass line (Bottom line G) to a low soprano (Teble clef C. Falsetto, of course). Quality is a different story, but I can hit it.

The REAL voice part classification

Soprano - High female voice, G3 (below middle C4) to F6 above high C6 although anywhere above high C can be included.
Coloratura - A singer, usually soprano, who sings ornamental passages in music - C4 to F6 or G6 above high C6

Lyric Soprano - Warmer middle sound - Bb3 below middle C4 to high C6 or D6

Spinto Soprano - Usually a thicker sound with more edge and volume but with the same range as a the Lyric Soprano

Dramatic Soprano - The loudest and lowest with cutting power - low Bb3 or A3, to a pushed high C6

Mezzo-Soprano - Middle female voice with dark quality, Low A3 or G3 (below middle C4) to at least high C although it is not uncommon for high A6 or Bb6 to Eb6 above high C6.

Alto or Contralto - Low Female Voice, low C3 (below middle C4) to high C6 or up to high A6.

Tenor - High Male Voice, C (an octave below middle C) up to high C or D (or above).
Countertenor - Highest male voice, also called alto, often falsetto
Heldentenor - Poweful dramatic tenor voice

Baritone - Middle Male Voice, low G/F an octave below middle C to B, F or G above middle C (just below the Tenor high C).

Bass - Baritone - More like a bass than a baritone, lacks the low bass notes

Bass - Low Male Voice, low E (or lower) an octave below middle C to E, F G above middle C.

Basso Cantante - High bass voice suitable for solo singing

Basso Profundo - Deep bass voice encompassing about two octaves above C below the bass staff

I am a lyric soprano.. yay

Uh...tenor/baritone-ish...my voice is still kinda changin', so it's hard to tell sometimes. I can sometimes sing bass parts, but mostly I would classify myself as either tenor or baritone.

I've been told I'm a natural contralto, but in choir and worship teams I sing alto, although we usually do the first verse in unison so I've expanded my range somewhat to include at least the middle to lower end of soprano.

I can sing from low G (8ve + 4th below middle C) to high E (3rd above middle C) well. Guess that makes me a baritone.

In His love,
Nate

I am what I like to call a tenortone. I'm not quite a tenor, but not a baritone at all. Hopefully in 10 years I'll be a real tenor.

Mezzo-soprano by actual voice classification, but i mostly sing alto. my range is exactly what a mezzo-soprano would have, but my voice is much stronger in my low register. i get really airy on the higher notes. Eb6 is the highest note i can hit and still get really good tone on.
