Yesterday in Hershey, Penn., Atlanta based rock band Third Day performed to a crowd of 30,000 at a campaign rally supporting the Bush-Cheney '04 Campaign. The band brought the audience to its feet with "I Believe" and "I Got A Feeling" from its acclaimed studio release, Wire (5/4/04). Following the rally, the band loaded-in to nearby Giant Center for a "Live Wire" tour date with tobyMac and Day of Fire.
Third Day recently celebrated a second consecutive American Music Award nomination, and is preparing for the upcoming release of Live Wire, a special two-disc live DVD/CD set on Nov. 23. Sure to be a collector's item for Third Day fans everywhere, Live Wire hits store shelves Thanksgiving week, traditionally the biggest retail week of the year.
The "Live Wire" Tour follows the hugely successful release of Third Day's latest studio album, Wire, earlier this year on Essential Records. Debuting at No.1 on Nielsen SoundScan's Top Christian Albums chart and No. 12 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart in its first week, Wire has shipped more than 450,000 units in just five months.
In addition to a 2004 GRAMMY nomination for Offerings II – All I Have to Give, and being referred to as the 'touring band of the year' by promoters for the past three years, Third Day was also honored with two consecutive American Music Award nominations (2003, 2004). The band received a GRAMMY in 2003 for Come Together and honors from ASCAP in the Song of the Year category. Over its 11-year career, the five-piece rock band has garnered 21 Gospel Music Association Dove Awards, 21 No.1 radio singles. In addition, they have amassed more than four million in career sales. The "Live Wire" Tour is sponsored by Chevrolet.
